Symbolism of Basic Geometrical Shapes

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1997
This study indicated that a sample of undergraduates (87 women and 36 men) when presented the stimuli of a square, a triangle, and a circle were significantly more likely to associate their fathers with the square and themselves with the circle than otherwise.

Shapes and Geometric Aptitude

2023
The PISA results with regards to Mathematics and Science for the Greek students have been alarming in multiple consecutive reports. Drawing from this experience, we focus on cultivating the basic geometric understanding of the individual and create a series of constructive and discovery-learning exercises, in order to facilitate the learning process ...

Guessing Geometric Shapes

The Mathematics Teacher, 1987
Searching for commonalities and recognizing distinguishing characteristics are important problem-solving strategies. During the study of geometry, students are bombarded with the properties of numerous geometric figures and can benefit from opportunities to integrate all these ideas.

Gems - Geometric Median Shapes

2019 IEEE 16th International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI 2019), 2019
We present an algorithm to compute the geometric median of shapes which is based on the extension of median to high dimensions. The median finding problem is formulated as an optimization over distances and it is solved directly using the watershed method as an optimizer.

Geometrically Shaped 16QAM Outperforming Probabilistically Shaped 16QaM

2017 European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC), 2017
We compare the proposed geometrically-shaped(GS) 16QAM with the probabilistically-shaped(PS) 16QAM formats in both numerical simulation and experimental setup. The results show that GS-16QAM outperforms PS-16QAM.

Geometric Shapes of Nuclei

2015
In this chapter we shall study nuclear sizes and shapes by means of elastic electron-nucleus scattering. Electron scattering is particularly valuable for investigating small objects. The electromagnetic interaction between an electron and a nucleus may be very accurately calculated.

A Geometric Framework for Rectangular Shape Detection

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2014
Rectangular shape detection has a wide range of applications, such as license plate detection, vehicle detection and building detection. In this paper, we propose a geometric framework for rectangular shape detection based on the channelscale space of RGB images.
