Controlling Fano resonance using the Geometrical Phase of light in spatially tailored waveguided plasmonic crystals

open access: yes, 2019
Fano resonance exhibiting an asymmetric spectral line shape is a universal phenomenon observed in diverse physical systems. Here we experimentally establish a direct link between the spectral asymmetry parameter and a physically realizable phase factor ...

Shape analysis on Lie groups and homogeneous spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we are concerned with the approach to shape analysis based on the so called Square Root Velocity Transform (SRVT). We propose a generalisation of the SRVT from Euclidean spaces to shape spaces of curves on Lie groups and on homogeneous ...

Discrete geometric shapes

open access: yes, 1996
In this survey we consider geometric techniques which have been used to measure the similarity or distance between shapes, as well as to approximate shapes, or interpolate between shapes. Shape is a modality which plays a key role in many disciplines, ranging from computer vision to molecular biology.

Shape correspondence for cel animation based on a shape association graph and spectral matching

open access: yesComputational Visual Media, 2023
We present an effective spectral matching method based on a shape association graph for finding region correspondences between two cel animation keyframes.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Why Shape Matters—On the Inherent Qualities of Geometric Shapes for Cartographic Representations

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2019
All human communication involves the use of signs. By following a mutually shared set of signs and rules, meaning can be conveyed from one entity to another.

Geometric modeling and applications of generalized blended trigonometric Bézier curves with shape parameters

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2020
A Bézier model with shape parameters is one of the momentous research topics in geometric modeling and computer-aided geometric design. In this study, a new recursive formula in explicit expression is constructed that produces the generalized blended ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

THE INFLUENCE OF THE GEOMETRIC SHAPE ABOVE THE VULNERABILITY OF BUILDINGS - KULA TYPE FROM OLTENIA AND MUNTENIA REGIONS

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Design and Engineering Graphics, 2019
The main goal of this paper is to highlight the vulnerability during the life time of kula buildings from Oltenia and Muntenia Regions from Romania. This research highlights the characteristic features of massive kula type buildings by masonry built ...

Effect of geometric shape of piston on power loss of sliding part between piston and cylinder in swash plate type piston pump and motor

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2018
The power loss due to the friction and the leakage in the sliding part between piston and cylinder of a swash plate type piston pump and motor affects the equipment performance and the efficiency.
