The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Guided discovery: an alternative teaching method to reduce students’ rote learning behavior in studying geometric transformation

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2019
In Indonesia, geometry transformation is taught from elementary to high school students, but at the high school level geometric transformation material already has a high level of complexity that is already involved in the concept of matrices in the ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Quantum Geometric Transformation Based on QIRHSI Quantum Color images

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
The negative effects caused by geometric distortion can be removed to the maximum extent possible through appropriate geometric transformations, allowing us to focus on the image content itself in subsequent processing and recognition.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Geometric correction code‐based robust image watermarking

open access: yesIET Image Processing, 2023
Digital image watermarking is one of the effective schemes to protect the copyrights of still images. However, the existing watermarking schemes are still not robust enough to the common geometric transformation attacks such as arbitrary rotation ...

Geometric Algebra Transformer

open access: yes, 2023
Problems involving geometric data arise in physics, chemistry, robotics, computer vision, and many other fields. Such data can take numerous forms, for instance points, direction vectors, translations, or rotations, but to date there is no single architecture that can be applied to such a wide variety of geometric types while respecting their ...
