Geopotential Calculations Optimisation

2020 International Conference Engineering and Telecommunication (En&T), 2020
The problem of the high complexity of calculating the series of spherical functions included in the expansion of the Earth's gravitational potential is considered. To solve this problem, an interpolation model is proposed, which makes it possible to substantially optimize the process of calculating the geopotential with insignificant losses in accuracy.

Geopotential from Space Techniques

Celestial Mechanics & Dynamical Astronomy, 1993
The monitoring of the perturbed motion of artificial satellites since the 1960’s has provided a valuable resource for improved activities in geodesy.Theseobservations and the improved geodetic techniques they fostered have provided an unparalleled means for studying both the gravity field and the Earth’s shape. In this paper, we will review the various

Testing geopotential models

Earth, Moon, and Planets, 1994
The actual accuracy of the geopotential value on the geoid computed from satellite altimetry recently asW0 = (62 636 857.5 ± 1.0) m2 s−2 makes it possible to adopt this quantity as geopotential models testing (GMT) value. However, GMT network should be established consisting of points situated near the gauge stations and of other points at small sea ...

Converting Radial Distortions Due to Geopotential Models to Geopotential Stokes Coefficients

Studia Geophysica et Geodaetica, 1997
A methodology for improving geopotential models has been developed. Theoretical relations have been derived converting coefficients in harmonic expansions for radial distortions due to geopotential models into geopotential Stokes coefficients. Terms of the order of 10−10in magnitude have been retained.

HEIGHT AND GEOPOTENTIAL

Survey Review, 1963
Abstract Some geodetic methods are geometrical, some are physical, and others have something of both these qualities. In recent years there has been a tendency to mark this distinction more clearly, to the benefit of geodetic science in general.

Earth’s Dimension Specified by Geoidal Geopotential

Studia Geophysica et Geodaetica, 2002
The TOPEX/POSEIDON (T/P) satellite altimeter data from January 1,1993 to January 3, 2001 (cycles 11–305) was used for investigating the long-term variations of the geoidal geopotential W0 and the geopotential scale factor R 0 = GM/W 0 (GM is the adopted geocentric gravitational constant).
