Documenting biodiversity with digital data: comparing and contrasting the efficacy of specimen‐based and observation‐based approaches

Summary Digitized herbarium specimens and iNaturalist observations provide invaluable plant biodiversity data. Summary Evidence for the ongoing biodiversity crisis rests on assessment of a small fraction of described species, with major knowledge gaps for most organisms, including plants.
