Petrography, thermobarometry, and pseudosection modelling reveal peak metamorphic conditions of 3–7.5 kbar and 520°C–800°C in Tonian‐Cryogenian orthogneisses of the Dom Feliciano Belt. Metamorphic field gradients of 27°C/km–39°C/km and variable exhumation mechanisms support correlation of these units as remnants of a Himalayan‐type Piratini Orogeny ...

ABSTRACT Following range‐wide decline, all remnant populations of the relict leopard frog (Rana onca) in the eastern Mojave Desert of the southwestern USA occupied geothermally influenced hot springs. In recent years, however, several large populations have been established at cold‐water sites.

Abstract BACKGROUND The present study investigated the potential health risks of heavy metals (HMs) in the fruits and leaves of mulberry and sour cherry trees exposed to water from Sivas geothermal basin (Turkey). RESULTS The target HMs were ranked according to their hazard index as: Cd < Pb < Zn < Cu < Ni < Mn < Cr. The total hazard index for mulberry

Modifications to authority to construct permits regulating the emissions of air pollutants : Puna Geothermal Venture, 25 MW geothermal power plant and well field [PDF]
"On March 16, 1990, the Department of Health modified the Authority to Construct air permits, Nos. A-833-795 and A-834-796, which were issued to Puna Geothermal Venture on February 6, 1990 for the fourteen (14) geothermal wells and the 25 MW geothermal ...

Mapping Geothermal Fluids Using Seismic Absorption and Scattering: A Case Study From Aluto Volcano
Seismic attenuation tomography is used to map fluids and fractures beneath the Aluto volcano geothermal field of the Main Ethiopian Rift. We present 3D models of peak delay (Δlog10Tpd) and inverse coda quality factor (Qc−1) which are proxies for seismic ...

Rearrangement Towards Stability: Plastic Shakedown in Granular Materials Under Thermal Cycles
ABSTRACT Granular materials are routinely subjected to thermal cycling due to natural and anthropogenic phenomena. Despite the ubiquity of this occurrence and its relevance for science, engineering, and technology, the long‐term thermo‐mechanical response of granular materials to repeated heating and cooling remains poorly understood.

ABSTRACT Swelling of clay‐sulfate rocks is a concern in geotechnical engineering that can damage infrastructure. In the historic town of Staufen in southwest Germany, geothermal drilling into a swellable anhydrite‐bearing clay formation resulted in water inflow and subsequent swelling, triggering ground heave and damage to more than 250 houses.
