Geothermal Gradients of Texas--A New Look: ABSTRACT

AAPG Bulletin, 1984
The heat flow equation shows that geothermal gradient varies directly with conductive heat flow and inversely with thermal conductivity. Because of the second of these functions, geothermal gradient values have limited validity wherever bottom-hole temperature (BHT) readings are reduced without regard for ambient rock type. Thus, I present a geothermal

Geothermal gradients and temperatures in the mantle and the problem of fusion

Journal of Geophysical Research, 1971
The existence of the low-velocity layer (or layers) in the uppermost parts of the mantle, at least in oceanic and tectogenic regions, is now accepted without any doubt. Different explanations for the origin of the low-velocity layers have been suggested.

Geothermal gradients and heat flow trends in Morocco

Geothermics, 1990
Abstract The paper presents a map of the main trends of heat flow density in Morocco. The average thermal gradients are also drawn for each major geological unit. The highest anomaly is observed in north-eastern Morocco, with a gradient of 30–40°C km −1 and a HFD of 70–110 mW m −2 . In the south, the Atlantic margin presents a gradient of 23–34°C km
