Update Heat Flow Density Map for Portugal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
New thermal conductivity, heat production and temperature data obtained in Portugal were used to produce a new heat flow density map. Heat flow density values in Portugal vary between 42 and 115 mW/m2 and allow the extrapolation of temperatures to depths

Coupling of energy conversion systems and wellbore heat exchanger in a very deep oil well [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The conventional geothermal power plants use the reinjection wells mostly to avoid the depletion of the geothermal reservoir gathering in the underground of the produced brine.

Energy Balancing of Electrochemical Alternatives to the Solvay Process

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
To overcome the CaCl2 and CO2 emissions custom to the conventional Solvay process in soda ash production, electrochemically based alternatives were investigated. In particular, the mass‐ and energy balances for chlor‐alkali electrolysis and bipolar electrodialysis‐based processes are discussed comprehensively in the presented work.

A Study of High‐Emission Industries: How Policy, Strategy, and Technology Shape Corporate Social Responsibility Toward Carbon Neutrality

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The extant carbon neutrality (CN) literature largely offers macro‐ or meso‐level analyses, providing limited insights into implementation experiences that could inform granular policymaking and industry strategies. To address this gap, we examine the lived CN experiences of firms in the transportation, energy, manufacturing, and construction ...

Fluid Chemical and Isotopic Signatures Insighting the Hydrothermal Control of the Wahongshan-Wenquan Fracture Zone (WWFZ), NE Tibetan Plateau

open access: yesEnergies
Compared to the southern Tibetan Plateau, the northern part has been regarded as relatively lacking geothermal resources. However, there is no lack of natural hot springs exposed in beads along large-scale fracture systems, and research on them is ...

The Integration of 3D Modeling and Simulation to Determine the Energy Potential of Low-Temperature Geothermal Systems in the Pisa (Italy) Sedimentary Plain

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Shallow, low-temperature geothermal resources can significantly reduce the environmental impact of heating and cooling. Based on a replicable standard workflow for three-dimensional (3D) geothermal modeling, an approach to the assessment of geothermal ...

Tracking Climate and Environmental Attention: A News‐Based Composite Index

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study introduces the Climate and Environmental Attention Index, a composite indicator that tracks media attention to climate and environmental issues. Based on the Semantic Brand Score, the proposed index extracts significant signals from unstructured text, going beyond traditional measures of word frequency and sentiment.

Temperature stability and enhanced transport properties by surface modifications of silica nanoparticle tracers for geo-reservoir exploration

open access: yesScientific Reports
Tracer tests are an important tool for characterizing and monitoring subsurface reservoir properties. However, they are limited both because of the tracer molecules constraining factors such as irreversible adsorption, retention, and degradations, i.e ...

The Colorado School of Mines Nevada geothermal study [PDF]

open access: yes
Geothermal systems in the Basin and Range Province of the western United States probably differ in many respects from geothermal systems already discovered in other parts of the world because of the unique tectonic setting.

Microscopic time‐dependent mechanical behavior of shale derived from nanoindentation

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study conducted grid nanoindentation creep tests to systematically analyze the microscopic creep behaviors of shale. Based on the analysis of creep strain rate sensitivity, the primary mechanism of microscopic creep in shale was found to be the extension and closure of microcracks.
