Omeprazol in the therapy of acid-base disorders
Proton pump inhibitors are the most effective treatment for all types of acid-base disorders. Despite differences between them, the available evidence demonstrated nearly the same clinical efficacy of various representatives of this group of drugs.

Background: Observational studies have shown a bidirectional association between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), but it is not clear whether this association is causal.

Canonical Cartan connection and holomorphic invariants on Engel CR manifolds [PDF]
We describe a complete system of invariants for 4-dimensional CR manifolds of CR dimension 1 and codimension 2 with Engel CR distribution by constructing an explicit canonical Cartan connection. We also investigate the relation between the Cartan connection and the normal form of the defining equation of an embedded Engel CR manifold.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a condition that develops when the reflux of stomach contents causes troublesome symptoms and/or complications (Vakil, et al , 2006a). GERD results from the combination of excessive gastroesophageal reflux of gastric juice and impaired esophageal clearance of the refluxate.

UDP‐glucose dehydrogenase variants cause dystroglycanopathy
Abstract UDP‐glucose dehydrogenase (UGDH) variants have been associated with hypotonia, developmental delay, and epilepsy. We report the first pathologic evidence of dystroglycanopathy in siblings with UGDH variants. Both presented around 6 months with developmental delay and elevated creatinine kinase.

Relationship Between Kyphosis and Postoperative Gastroesophageal Reflux After Proximal Gastrectomy
This study examined the relationship between kyphosis and postoperative gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) after proximal gastrectomy using a kyphosis definition that is familiar to surgeons for preoperative assessment. Multivariate analysis revealed that kyphosis is an independent risk factor for GERD after proximal gastrectomy.

The Montreal definition of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) provided a rationale for acid suppression medication without investigation, thus enhancing the management of the substantial symptom burden in these patients.

Expanding the SIAH1‐Associated Phenotypic Spectrum: Insights From Loss‐of‐Function Variants
ABSTRACT SIAH1 encodes for a RING‐type E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in protein ubiquitination. More specifically, it positively regulates Wnt signaling through promoting the accumulation of β‐catenin and mediates ubiquitination and degradation of Akt3 in neural development.
