Sex Matters: Hormonal and Chromosomal Determinants of Autoimmunity and Anti‐Cancer Immunity Across the Lifespan

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 338, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Sex plays a key role in shaping both anti‐cancer immunity and autoimmunity. Biological factors underlying sexual dimorphism have now been identified in multiple aspects of anti‐cancer immunity and autoimmunity. These factors include sex differences in hormone levels, chromosome complement, and expression of the long non‐coding RNA XIST.

CCDC26, CDKN2BAS, RTEL1 and TERT Polymorphisms in pediatric brain tumor susceptibility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The role of genetic polymorphisms in pediatric brain tumor (PBT) etiology is poorly understood. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that single nucleotide polymorphisms identified by genome-wide association studies on adult glioma are also associated

The X Factor in Immunity: Sex Differences Shaped by the X Chromosome

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 338, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT There are sex differences with immune responses where females exhibit stronger immune responses compared to males. Both sex hormones and sex chromosome differences between males and females contribute to the observed sex differences with innate and adaptive immune cell composition and function.

Clinical Correlates of Anxiety and Depression After Diagnosis of a Pediatric Brain Tumor

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, Volume 73, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background The prevalence and clinical correlates of symptoms of anxiety and depression in pediatric patients with brain tumors are not well described. We aimed to identify clinical characteristics that are correlated with elevated symptoms of anxiety and depression following initial diagnosis.

High‐throughput single‐cell DNA methylation and chromatin accessibility co‐profiling with SpliCOOL‐seq

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
SpliCOOL‐seq achieves high‐throughput single‐cell co‐profiling of DNA methylation and chromatin accessibility. DNMT inhibitors caused cancer cell demethylation with divergent patterns. SpliCOOL‐seq enables the discovery of genes related to LUAD tumorigenesis. Ageing and LUAD tumorigenesis may share similar epigenetic alterations.

Second-line high-dose chemotherapy in patients with mediastinal and retroperitoneal primary non-seminomatous germ cell tumors: the EBMT experience [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Results of second-line chemotherapy in patients with extragonadal non-seminomatous germ cell tumor (NSGCT) appear inferior to results in testicular NSGCT. Patients with retroperitoneal NSGCT achieve a comparable long-term survival rate of 30%,

Nutritional and Health Potential of Edible Seeds: Micronutrient Bioavailability and Mechanistic Insights

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Their bioactive constituents act through antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and metabolic‐regulating mechanisms, validating their classification as functional foods. Evidence from clinical and biochemical studies largely supports these benefits, although some claims stem from preliminary or in vitro findings.

Mosaic Li Fraumeni Syndrome Not Identified in Germinal Tissue

open access: yesMolecular Genetics &Genomic Medicine, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
In this study, we presented the first clinical case report of mosaic Li Fraumeni syndrome eluding germinal tissue. This case highlights the complexity of interpreting mosaic variants in TP53, and the difficulty in relaying cancer and reproductive risk information in the context of mosaic Li Fraumeni syndrome.
