Leaching behavior of germanium from germanium-rich lignite: A further comprehension of its occurrence state

open access: yesFuel Processing Technology
Germanium, a critical metal used in many strategy fields, is widely acknowledged as organic affinity. Germanium is main occurred in the humus of lignite, but its exact occurrence state remains unclear. In this work, various methods were employed to leach

Novel metastable metallic and semiconducting germaniums [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
By means of ab initio metadynamics runs we explored the lower-pressure region of the phase diagram of germanium. A monoclinic germanium phase with four-membered rings, less dense than diamond and compressible into \beta-tin phase (tI4) was found.

Mineralization characteristics and exploration progress of germanium resources in Chinese coal

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
Germanium, as a typical scarce element and important strategic metal, is widely used in fields such as optoelectronics, semiconductors, and chemicals. The exploration and development of germanium resources are therefore of great significance.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Organogermanium: Potential beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
Organogermanium, especially poly‐trans‐[(2‐carboxyethyl)germasesquioxane] (Ge‐132), has been known to enhance immune‐modulatory activities. However, the in vivo and in vitro evidence accumulated over the last 20 years reveals that Ge‐132 has unique but ...

Germanium: distribution, migration and accumulation in the natural environment

open access: yesНауковий вісник Львівського національного університету ветеринарної медицини та біотехнологій імені С.З. Гжицького. Серія: Сільськогосподарські науки, 2023
In this paper we attempt to generalize information published in the scientific literature about the distribution, migration and accumulation of chemical forms of germanium in the natural environment, with the main attention paid to the content of this ...

Hydrogen peroxide etching proves useful for germanium [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Influence of process variations in the etching of germanium with hydrogen peroxide has been studied, along with damage effects due to radiation.

Direct and Simultaneous Observation of Ultrafast Electron and Hole Dynamics in Germanium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Understanding excited carrier dynamics in semiconductors is crucial for the development of photovoltaics and efficient photonic devices. However, overlapping spectral features in optical/NIR pump-probe spectroscopy often render assignments of separate ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Resource utilization of sodium sulfate in high salt wastewater from lead and zinc smelting

open access: yesGongye shui chuli
To address the problem of resource utilization of sodium sulfate in high salt wastewater from lead and zinc smelting, an independently designed two membrane-three chamber electrolysis cell was adopted to recover sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide.
