Seedling Emergence from Seed Banks in Ludwigia hexapetala-Invaded Wetlands: Implications for Restoration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Soil seed banks play a critical role in the maintenance of wetland plant communities and contribute to revegetation following disturbances. Analysis of the seed bank can therefore inform restoration planning and management.

A Vascular Microphysiological Model of Lung Fibrosis Reveals That Myofibroblasts and IPF Patient‐Derived Fibroblasts Impair Angiogenesis and Vasculogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A microphysiological lung fibrosis model recapitulates myofibroblast–vascular interactions. Induced myofibroblasts and patient‐derived IPF fibroblasts impair angiogenesis and increase vascular permeability via TGF‐β1–driven signaling. Pharmacological interventions with SB 431542 and VEGF supplementation restore vascular morphology and barrier function.

Seed quality and productive characteristics of O-type sugar beet lines under low temperatures

open access: yesPlant Varieties Studying and Protection, 2013
500 O-type lines of sugar beet hybrid components were studied according to their main economically valuable characteristics, namely, one-seed structure, germination readiness, productivity, sugar content and sugar yield. 13 best features were determined,

Anti-nutrient reduction and nutrient retention capacity of fermentation, germination and combined germination-fermentation in legume processing

open access: yesApplied Food Research, 2022
Research has proven that the processing of legumes improves nutritional value. However, the extent of anti-nutrient reduction and nutrient retention of combined processing methods compared to single processing methods has not been extensively studied.

Region‐to‐Region Unidirectional Connection In Vitro Brain Model for Studying Directional Propagation of Neuropathologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A unidirectional cerebral organoid–organoid neural circuit is established using a microfluidic platform, enabling controlled directional propagation of electrical signals, neuroinflammatory cues, and neurodegenerative disease–related proteins between spatially separated organoids.

Effect of ecological factors on germination of horse purslane (Trianthema portulacastrum) [PDF]

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 2013
Trianthema portulacastrum is a very problematic summer crop weed and a complete crop failure has been observed because of this weed at high density. The effect of different ecological factors on germination of T.

Influence of sycamore seed stratification length on their germination capacity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2014
Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus L.) seeds are frequently used in forest nurseries and therefore the knowledge of their proper treatment is desirable. Seed stratification recommended by the Czech standard is two months but there are not many studies which review the appropriate length in Central European conditions.

Endothelial Cells Angiogenesis in Sulfated Glycosaminoglycan (GAG) Hydrogels Enhanced by Bioactive Glass‐Released Ions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A mechanically tunable hydrogel composed of gelatin, chondroitin sulfate and laminin promotes angiogenesis in vitro without the supplement of growth factors. Endothelial cells morphogenesis was further enhanced by medium conditioned with bioactive glass 58S‐released ions (Ca and Si), thus offering a promising strategy to vascularize 3D tissue ...

Transparent UV‐Curable Self‐Sanitizing Coatings Applicable to Diverse Surfaces and High‐Touch Screens to Mitigate Deadly Pathogen Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Development of a transparent, self‐sanitizing antimicrobial coating technology applicable to a wide range of materials and surfaces‐including touchscreens, transparent substrates, and metal, plastic, and glass‐regardless of pathogen type. The spray‐coated, UV‐cross‐linked imidazole‐based quaternary ammonium chloride materials provide broad‐spectrum ...

Evaluation of the effects of drought stress of mother plants on some seed germination indices of Satureja hortensis [PDF]

open access: yesمدیریت بیابان, 2017
Seed germination indices can be affected by drought stress in ripening stage of seeds on mother plant.  In this study, four water stress treatments (100, 75, 50 and 25% of field capacity (FC)) were imposed during seed maturation of Satureja hortensis ...
