A Sacrificial 3D Printed Vessel‐on‐Chip Demonstrates a Versatile Approach to Model Granulation Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A novel method that combines 3D printing and organ‐on‐chip technology enables the creation of hollow channels lined with endothelial cells through a fibroblast‐populated connective tissue matrix. The model supports stable metabolic culture conditions, angiogenic sprouting, and immune cell migration, thereby demonstrating an easy and versatile method to

The Effect of Increasing Doses of Heavy Metals on Seed Germination of Selected Ornamental Plant Species

open access: yesAgronomy
The primary goal of this study was to assess how two techniques for applying progressively higher doses of zinc and cadmium impact seed germination of selected ornamental plant species. The experiments were conducted in the accredited laboratory of the W.

Influence of row spacing on herb yield of common chamomile (Chamomilla recutita (L.) Rausch.) as well as seed yield and quality

open access: yesActa Agrobotanica, 2012
The experiment consisted of three single row spacings (every 25, 40 and 50 cm) and four double and triple row spacings (40-25-40 cm, 40-25-25-40 cm, 50-25-50 cm, 50-25-25- 50 cm).

THE TOPOGRAPHICAL TETRAZOLIUM METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE GERMINATING CAPACITY OF SEEDS [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1949
In 1942 the author published the so-called tetrazolium method for determination of the germinability of seeds (3). This method is based upon the reduction in germinability of the seeds due to a gradual dying-off of the embryo (2). The topographical spread of necrosis of embryo tissues can be demonstrated by means of 2,3,5-triphenyl-tetrazolium-chloride.

THE EFFECT OF PRIMING ON GERMINATION AND VIGOUR OF PANSY (Viola × wittrockiana Gams.) SEEDS

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2014
Three seed priming techniques: hydropriming, halopriming and osmopriming, were compared for their effects on germination and vigour of pansy (Viola × wittrockiana Gams.) seeds at 20°C, 30°C and 35°C.

Seed conditioning of red oak: a recalcitrant North American seed Condicionamento de sementes de carvalho vermelho: semente recalcitrante da América do Norte

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 1998
A ten day aerated water soak was developed as a seed conditioning treatment for red oak (Quercus rubra L.). Conditioned seeds had higher germination completeness, uniformity and speed compared to control seeds.

Bioengineered Lymphatic Vessels in Synthetic Matrices to Study Breast Cancer Cell Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Lymphatic vessels are involved in cancer metastasis. To study the interplay between metastasizing cancer cells and lymphatic vessels under highly reproducible conditions, advanced in vitro models are required. In this work, 3D lymphatic networks are formed in biomimetic hydrogels and their interactions with invasive and non‐invasive cancer cell‐lines ...

Sources and modes of action of invasive knotweed allelopathy : the effects of leaf litter and trained soil on the germination and growth of native plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Invasive knotweeds, native to Eastern Asia, are among the most dominant plant invaders of European and North American temperate ecosystems. Recent studies indicate that one cause of this dominance might be allelopathy, but the possible sources and modes ...
