Epigenetic mechanisms regulating seed germination rate

Cytology and Genetics, 2017
Changes in epigenetic polymorphism degree within wheat seedlings’ population under radiation stimulating exposure of germination were investigated. Variations in seeds sample allocations by germination rate in both control and chronically exposed variants were estimated.

Improving germination rate of soybeans as a biofuel resource

2008 IEEE 35th International Conference on Plasma Science, 2008
Summary form only given. Improvements in plant quality, root strength and seed germination through different means has been the subject of research for many. For example, low intensity and extreme low frequency magnetic field on sunflower and wheat seeds germination have produced positive effect.

Seed Germination Rate and Associated Characters in Rice

Crop Science, 1989
Rapid seed germination will facilitate quick plant stand establishment in direct sown rice (Oryza sativa L.) culture. Sixty‐eight rice cultivars were grown in the field and in the phytotron, and the harvested seed evaluated for germination rate. Cultivars ‘Laxmi’, TNAU(AD)103, IR25924‐92‐1‐3, ‘IR50’, PND160‐2‐1, RNR1429, IR31779‐19‐3‐3‐2‐2, and B3981c ...

Influence of moisture content, temperature and heating rate on germination rate of watermelon seeds

Scientia Horticulturae, 2020
Abstract Thermal treatments are widely used to control bacterial fruit blotch on watermelon seeds contaminated by pathogens. It is necessary for developing effective heat treatments for seed pasteurization, which will not adversely affect their germination properties.

Germination rate of watermelon seeds as affected by temperature, moisture content and heating rate

2020 ASABE Annual International Virtual Meeting, July 13-15, 2020, 2020
Abstract. Thermal treatments are widely used to control bacterial fruit blotch on watermelon seeds contaminated by pathogens. It is necessary for developing effective pasteurization methods, which may not affect the germination rate of seeds by meeting the commercial circulation requirements.

Effect of sound on the germination rate of turnip seeds

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1974
The number of seeds that germinate as a function of time has been examined keeping all environmental parameters constant with the exception of the sound pressure level and frequency These data were very reproducible. At 100 dB all the single-frequency sound data have essentially the same characteristic curve.

Parameters estimation of the predicting model for germination rates of drying maize

2010 Sixth International Conference on Natural Computation, 2010
It is known that parameter estimations of complex mathematical models needs efficency methods to search the optimization values. In this paper, a method is proposed to optimize parameters of complex mathmatical models by genetic algorithm. By this way, genetic algorithm and parameter estimation carry on organic combination.

QUALITY STANDARDS FOR SEED GERMINATION: THE USE OF NUCLEAR DNA AMOUNTS TO PREDICT STORAGE BEHAVIOR AND GERMINATION RATE

Acta Horticulturae, 1998
Production of high quality seed is the basis for a durable and profitable agriculture. After production, seed is processed, conditioned, stored, shipped and used throughout the world. Seed quality, as typified by general condition, purity and viability has to be controlled at all steps of the production chain until it is used for the next year' crop ...

Alternating Temperatures and Rate of Seed Germination in Lentil

Annals of Botany, 1994
The effect of alternating temperatures on the times taken by seeds of lentil (Lens culinaris Medikus) to germinate was investigated using a two-way temperature-gradient plate. Between 5 and 25°C, warmer temperatures increased the rate of germination.

Evaluation of seed soaking times on germination percentage, germination rate and growth characteristics of pistachio seedlings

Acta Horticulturae, 2016
In traditional pistachio cultivation, prior to sowing seeds the latter are soaked in water for different times as farmers claim that this will contribute to germination. To our best knowledge, this is the first attempt to evaluate the effect of different water-soaking time periods on germination in pistachio.
