Allium genetic resources with particular reference to onion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
As in many other crop species, also in Allium crops genetic erosion is taking place. In this mini review the current global state of the art is presented on Allium ex situ genetic resources and more in particular on onion genetic resources.

Meta‐GWAS of Pig Semen Quality Traits Reveals Conserved Genes Regulating Mammalian Fertility

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study incorporated 14 210 individuals to perform a GWAS meta‐analysis of six semen quality traits. The GWAS meta‐analysis identifies 234 GWAS loci associated with semen quality traits. The incorporation with a functional genomics resource explains potential genetic regulation of ∼40% GWAS signals underlying semen quality traits.

Phenolic Content and Antioxidant Activity in Trifolium Germplasm from Different Environments

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Phenolics are important mediators in plant-environment interactions. The presence and concentration of phenolic compounds and their antioxidant activity were evaluated in leaves and flowers of a set of Trifolium species originating from contrasting ...

GbWAKL20 Phosphorylates GbNFYB8 to Modulate Verticillium Wilt Resistance in Cotton

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Wall‐associated receptor‐like kinases (WAKLs) play pivotal roles in extracellular–intracellular signal transduction. Upon sensing Verticillium dahliae infestation at the plasma membrane, GbWAKL20 accumulates and transmits signals to the nucleus via endoplasmic reticulum‐mediated Golgi vesicle transport.

Morphological characterization of six Lombok upland rice cultivars

open access: yesIlmu Pertanian (Agricultural Science), 2021
Lombok upland rice is one of the cultivars that have the potential as a genetic source. However, Lombok upland rice is almost rarely found. Therefore, conservation was carried out through morphological characterization to provide genetic information ...

Genome‐Wide Association Analyses Reveal the Genetic Basis of EMS Mutagenesis Efficiency in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on large‐scale screening of 420 rice accessions, GWAS identified the Rc locus as a key regulator of EMS mutagenesis efficiency. Functional Rc alleles enhance both seed survival and genome‐wide mutation frequency by boosting antioxidant enzyme activities (CAT, SOD, POD) and reducing oxidative damage.

Epidermal Cell Dynamics Regulates Rice Lamina Joint Morphogenesis and Leaf Angle Formation through OsZHD1 and OsZHD2 Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The lamina joint determines leaf angle and plant architecture. Xu et al. establish a live‐imaging system for the rice lamina joint and reveal that asymmetric epidermal cell elongation and division between the lateral and medial edges drive leaf angle formation.

Assessment of Genetic Diversity and Structure of Large Garlic (Allium sativum) Germplasm Bank, by Diversity Arrays Technology “Genotyping-by-Sequencing” Platform (DArTseq)

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2017
Garlic (Allium sativum) is used worldwide in cooking and industry, including pharmacology/medicine and cosmetics, for its interesting properties. Identifying redundancies in germplasm blanks to generate core collections is a major concern, mostly in ...
