Gesture Recognition : The Gesture Segmentation Problem
Journal of Intelligent and Robotic Systems, 1999The gesture segmentation problem is introduced as the first step towards visual gesture recognition i.e. with the detection, analysis and recognition of gestures from sequences of real images. Our gesture segmentation scheme is composed of two steps: accurate gesture contour tracking in space domain, and continuous tracking in time domain. Experimental

Hand gesture recognition (HGR) is a natural kind of human-machine interaction that has been used in a variety of settings. In this chapter, the authors address work in the field of HGR applications in industrial robots, with an emphasis on processing stages and approaches in gesture-based human-robot interaction (HRI), which may be beneficial to other ...

The main objective of gesture recognition is to promote the technology behind the automation of registered gesture with a fusion of multidimensional data in a versatile manner. To achieve this goal, computers should be able to visually recognize hand gestures from video input.

This paper presents a novel method for static gesture recognition based on visual attention. Our proposed method makes use of a visual attention model to automatically select points that correspond to fixation points of the human eye. Gesture recognition is then performed using the determined visual attention fixation points.

This paper presents a methodology for a real time mobile gesture recognition system. It presents a new kind of Human - Machine interaction through mobile devices (microcontroller) and without the use of typical computer system. With the help of real time gesture recognition technologies and by using camera signal processing (web) the interaction with ...

In this paper we introduce our method for enabling dynamic gesture recognition for hand gestures. Like a number of other research work focusing on gesture recognition we use a camera to track the motions and interpret these in terms of actual meaningful gestures; however we emphasise the tracking of fingers as well as the hand in order to cover a much ...

Face Recognition and Gesture Recognition
2021This chapter continues from the thought from Pablo Picasso. We humans are intrigued by our faces and faces of others, our smiles, our emotions, the different poses we make, and different expressions we have. Our mobile phones and cameras capture all of this.

Presents a method for recognising human-hand gestures using a model based approach. A finite state machine is used to model four qualitatively distinct phases of a generic gesture. Fingertips are tracked in multiple frames to compute motion trajectories. The trajectories are then used for finding the start and stop position of the gesture. Gestures are

ZatLab Gesture Recognition Framework
International Journal of Creative Interfaces and Computer Graphics, 2016The main problem this work addresses is the real-time recognition of gestures, particularly in the complex domain of artistic performance. By recognizing the performer gestures, one is able to map them to diverse controls, from lightning control to the creation of visuals, sound control or even music creation, thus allowing performers real-time ...

Mostly communication in current scenario is happened via vocal sounds with body language gestures. Vocal sound play an important role in communication but at the same time, various body language expressions add more importance to communication. Even in few cases, body language played a very important role like communication between deaf & dumb people ...
