Pertussis toxin-catalyzed ADP-ribosylation of Gi-2 and Gi-3 in CHO cells is modulated by inhibitors of intracellular trafficking [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1996
In previous studies, an in vitro ADP-ribosylation assay was developed to quantitatively evaluate the in vivo ADP-ribosylation of eukaryotic target proteins in intact Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells by pertussis toxin (PT). Immunoblot analysis identified the two PT-sensitive target proteins in CHO cells as Gi-2 and Gi-3.

Analysis of comprehensive genomic profiling of solid tumors with a novel assay for broad analysis in clinical diagnostics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In molecular cancer diagnostics, comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) is going to replace the small NGS panels since it provides all clinically relevant somatic variants as well as genomic biomarkers with clinical value. Here, we compared two CGP assays and demonstrate that the choice for diagnostic implementation will depend on the specific ...

Gi Protein Modulation of the Potassium Channel TASK-2 Mediates Vesicle Osmotic Swelling to Facilitate the Fusion of Aquaporin-2 Water Channel Containing Vesicles

open access: yesCells, 2018
Vesicle fusion is a fundamental cell biological process similar from yeasts to humans. For secretory vesicles, swelling is considered a step required for the expulsion of intravesicular content.

SARS-CoV-2 Variant-Specific Gastrointestinal Symptoms of COVID-19: 2023 Update

open access: yesGastroenterology Insights, 2023
The gastrointestinal (GI) tract may be a significant entrance or interaction site for SARS-CoV-2; therefore, the gut mucosal immune system participates in virus interaction as a first-line physical and immunological defense, leading to GI involvement and

Molecular and functional profiling unravels targetable vulnerabilities in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We used whole exome and RNA‐sequencing to profile divergent genomic and transcriptomic landscapes of microsatellite stable (MSS) and microsatellite instable (MSI) colorectal cancer. Alterations were classified using a computational score for integrative cancer variant annotation and prioritization.

Genetic variability and phylogenetic analysis of Lagovirus europaeus strains GI.1 (RHDV) and GI.2 (RHDV2) based on the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) coding gene.

open access: yesActa Biochimica Polonica, 2020
Lagovirus europaeus GI.1 (RHDV-rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus) and GI.2 (RHDV2-rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus 2), family Caliciviridae, genus Lagovirus, are etiological factors of the rabbit haemorrhagic disease (RHD).

Diabetes-induced alterations in the expression, functioning and phosphorylation state of the inhibitory guanine nucleotide regulatory protein Gi-2 in hepatocytes [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1990
Levels of the G-protein alpha-subunits alpha-Gi-2, alpha-Gi-3 and the 42 kDa, form of alpha-Gs were markedly decreased in hepatocyte membranes from streptozotocin-diabetic animals as compared with normals. In contrast, no detectable changes in alpha-Gi subunits were seen in liver plasma membranes of streptozotocin-diabetic animals, although levels of ...

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Sex is no determinant of cardioprotection by ischemic preconditioning in rats, but ischemic/reperfused tissue mass is for remote ischemic preconditioning

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2019
We determined the impact of sex on the magnitude of cardioprotection by local and remote ischemic preconditioning (IPC and RIPC) and of ischemic/reperfused peripheral tissue mass on protection by RIPC.

Rare localization of angiolipoma in the gastrointestinal tract: a case series

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research, 2020
Objective Angiolipoma is a benign tumor that rarely occurs in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. This case series was performed to increase clinicians’ understanding of the diagnosis and management of GI angiolipoma.
