A common pathway controls cell size in the sepal and leaf epidermis leading to a nonrandom pattern of giant cells. [PDF]
Arabidopsis leaf epidermal cells have a wide range of sizes and ploidies, but the mechanisms patterning their size and spatial distribution remain unclear.

Structure and Evolution of Giant Cells in Global Models of Solar Convection [PDF]
The global scales of solar convection are studied through three-dimensional simulations of compressible convection carried out in spherical shells of rotating fluid that extend from the base of the convection zone to within 15 Mm of the photosphere. Such

Meloidogyne incognita-Induced Giant Cells in Tomato and the Impact of Acetic Acid [PDF]
The plant parasitic root-knot nematodes of the species Meloidogyne incognita infect many cultivated plants, one of which is the tomato (Solanum lycopersicum). To be fed, M.

Monocyte progenitors give rise to multinucleated giant cells
The immune response to mycobacteria is characterized by granuloma formation, which features multinucleated giant cells as a unique macrophage type. We previously found that multinucleated giant cells result from Toll-like receptor-induced DNA damage and ...

Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is the most common systemic vasculitis in the elderly. It is characterized by the involvement of the large vessels, predominantly the extracranial branches of the aorta. There is a close relationship with polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR).

Permanent, severe loss of vision is a feared complication; however, it is not the sole possible devastating outcome of giant cell arteritis. Myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke and limb gangrene may also occur.

Effectors of Root-Knot Nematodes: An Arsenal for Successful Parasitism
Root-knot nematodes (RKNs) are notorious plant-parasitic nematodes first recorded in 1855 in cucumber plants. They are microscopic, obligate endoparasites that cause severe losses in agriculture and horticulture.

Giant cell fibroblastoma [PDF]
Two cases of giant cell fibroblastoma in children are described and the available literature on these uncommon neoplasms is summarized. Several local recurrences were noticed in both of our cases, but no metastases occurred. The histologic appearance was distinctive, but no firm conclusions regarding histogenesis could be drawn.
