The Metabolic Rates of Giant Panda and Red Panda

2021
The giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) is one of the most endangered vertebrates and an iconic symbol of conservation. While progress has been made in understanding its genome, landscape ecology and anthropogenic effects on its populations, many aspects of its biology are unknown.

Sox andZfx genes in giant panda

Science in China Series C: Life Sciences, 1998
By using PCR cloning techniques, the DNA sequences of the HMG box regions of six Sox genes (pSox) and the zinc finger domains of two Zfx genes (pZfx) in the giant panda were identified. The giant panda Sox genes fell into two subfamilies, SOX-S1 and SOX-S2.

Improved genome assemblies of two giant pandas and resequencing of 25 giant pandas

2021
We assembled 2 chromosome level genomes of giant pandas using the PacBio and Hi-C technology. We also resequenced 25 giant pandas from Qinling, Minshan and Qionglai mountains.

Microhabitat selection by giant pandas

Biological Conservation, 2020
Abstract Understanding habitat selection is important for effective habitat management and recovery of species. However, many habitat selection studies are based on presence and absence data and do not differentiate the intensity of use and its association with fine-scale habitat characteristics.

Giant Pandas

2006
The giant panda is one of the world's most recognized animals. With the environment undergoing unprecedented change at a rapid and accelerating rate, can such a highly specialized species survive? This 2006 book summarizes panda biology and encompasses topics such as reproduction, behaviour, nutrition, genetics and veterinary medicine. It also provides

Perfluorooctanesulfonate and Perfluorooctanoate in Red Panda and Giant Panda from China

Environmental Science & Technology, 2006
Perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) are important perfluorochemicals (PFCs) in various applications. Recently, it has been shown that these compounds are widespread in the environment, wildlife, and humans. The giant panda and the red panda belong to the order Carnivora, but are highly specialized as bamboo feeders.

The Ancestry of the Giant Panda

Scientific American, 1987
Investigates the genealogy of the giant panda. Comparison of the homologous proteins from the giant panda, the red panda, the raccoon and several bears; Use of the principles of the molecular clock hypothesis to construct a phylogenetic diagram; DNA data indicating that the giant panda is more closely related to bears that to raccoons; Bizarre type of ...
