Ammonia in the Giant Planets

The largest reservoirs of ammonia in the solar system are the atmospheres of the gas giant planets Jupiter and Saturn. The planets are composed of primarily hydrogen and helium, but trace elements are present in roughly solar abundance and are generally found in the form of hydrides. Of these the most important is ammonia.
