Osmotic regulation of alpha-amylase synthesis and polyribosome formation in aleurone cells of barley. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Water stress inhibits the gibberellic acid (GA(3))-induced synthesis of alpha-amylase in aleurone layers of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.). Electron microscope evidence indicates that the effect of water stress induced by 0.6 M solutions of polyethylene ...

Comparative efficacy of seed biopriming and soil drenching with Bacillus altitudinis TM22 and Bacillus atrophaeus MCM61 on the suppression of Fusarium wilt of cotton

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Co‐application of Bacillus strains TM22 and MCM61 suppressed Fusarium wilt of cotton. Seed biopriming with Bacillus strains performed better than soil drenching. TM22 + MCM61 improved vegetative and physiological aspects in cotton plants. TM22 + MCM61 enhanced the activity of defense enzymes and defense gene expression.

Gibberellic Acid Levels and Quality Effects of Gibberellic Acid in Treated Table Grapes

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Enology & Viticulture, 2017
Sultanina and Waltham Cross vineyards were treated with increasing dosages and late applications of gibberellic acid. Berries with sampled at different stages after treatment as well as after four weeks' cold storage. The gibberellic acid levels of treated and untreated berries were determined using a gibberellic acid-specific radio-immunoassay ...

Cold-induced male meiotic restitution in Arabidopsis thaliana is not mediated by GA-DELLA signaling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Short periods of cold stress induce male meiotic restitution and diploid pollen formation in Arabidopsis thaliana by specifically interfering with male meiotic cytokinesis.

In vitro culture, cryopreservation, and field reintroduction of the endangered Mingan thistle

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Current plant conservation efforts are hindered by, for example, poor seed germination, low viability, and insufficient propagation and preservation technologies. To address these problems, we devised an approach to plant conservation that integrates conservation, preservation, and restoration (CPR), which uses advanced in vitro techniques. We

Role of preservative solutions on physiological mechanisms for delaying leaf yellowing in alstroemeria flowers [PDF]

open access: yesCiência e Agrotecnologia
The primary postharvest challenge for alstroemeria is premature leaf yellowing, which impacts flower quality and diminishes ornamental value. It is hypothesized that using preservative solutions could mitigate this issue.

Cold hardiness mechanisms and modeling: existing approaches and future avenues

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Cold hardiness models are useful tools to predict cold damage in plants, such as those produced by unseasonal temperature cycles or by increased cold exposure. Although development of these models started about five decades ago, their applications remain limited.

GIBBERELLIC ACID CONCENTRATIONS IN SEED PROPAGATED ARTICHOKE

open access: yesActa Horticulturae, 2004
In Spain, the artichoke crop is interesting for autumn-winter production. With vegetative propagated cultivars, like ‘Blanca de Tudela’ or ‘Violeta de Provenza’, the harvest starts at the beginning of autumn and finishes at the end of spring. The currently available seed propagated cultivars are not as early as the asexually propagated ones mentioned ...

Development and germination of Sandersonia aurantiaca (Hook.) seeds : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Plant Biology and Biotechnology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Sandersonia aurantiaca (Hook.) has recently become an important horticultural crop through its economic value for export of its cut flowers and tubers.
