Quasivoids in Polydisperse Glassy Systems With Atomistic PEL Exploration and Iso‐Configuration Method

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Understanding the microscopic relaxation mechanisms in amorphous solids remains a fundamental challenge. A theoretical framework posits that dynamics are mediated by quasivoids: transient, localized quasi‐particles that are the amorphous analogue of crystalline vacancies.

Toward a feminist geo‐legal reading: US country‐of‐origin information in asylum adjudication

open access: yesArea, Volume 58, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract In this article, we offer what we call ‘a feminist geo‐legal reading’ of documents used in spaces and practices of law. Legal cases and decisions are often based on different legal and non‐legal documents, including laws, explanatory memorandums, testimonies, medical reports, and so forth. In contemporary asylum adjudication, country‐of‐origin

Failure Mechanisms and Fault Evolution in All‐Solid‐State Batteries: From Materials to Cell‐Level Degradation

open access: yesBattery Energy, Volume 5, Issue 3, May 2026.
The degradation of all‐solid‐state batteries stems from coupled chemo‐electro‐mechanical interactions across materials, interfaces, and cell structure. This review systematically analyzes failure mechanisms involving material instability, interfacial contact loss, and stress evolution, offering guidance for battery design.

Thermodynamics of static: Observers in Gibbs paradox

open access: yes, 2016
In this work, Gibbs paradox was discussed from the view of observer. The limitations of real observer are analyzed quantitatively. The entropy of mixing was found to be determined by both the identification ability and the information already in hand of an observer.

Hydrophobic Eutectic Solvent‐Engineered Membranes for Highly Permeable, Selective, and Antifouling Pharmaceutical Removal from Municipal Wastewater

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 3, May 2026.
Single‐step incorporation of a hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent (HDES) into polyethersulfone ultrafiltration membranes via non‐solvent induced phase separation creates selective, antifouling membranes for pharmaceutical removal. The HDES nanodomains enhance permeability, electrostatic interactions, and adsorption affinity, enabling efficient and ...

Of Titans and Terraria: Exploring and Conceptualising Philanthropic Foundations Through the Lens of Metaphors

open access: yesJournal of Philanthropy, Volume 31, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Addressing ongoing calls for a more robust understanding of philanthropic foundations, this paper uses metaphor analysis to map and analyse analogical metaphors on foundations—metaphors that make a direct comparison between philanthropic foundations and another domain—put forward in academic and non‐academic discourse.

Prolegomena to a non-equilibrium quantum statistical mechanics

open access: yes, 1999
We suggest that the framework of quantum information theory, which has been developing rapidly in recent years due to intense activity in quantum computation and quantum communication, is a reasonable starting point to study non-equilibrium quantum ...

The Enduring Allure of Neoliberalism: Individualising Responsibility for Housing Costs in the English Private Rental Sector

open access: yesThe Modern Law Review, Volume 89, Issue 3, Page 467-491, May 2026.
This paper explores how the affordability of rents is addressed in the long‐anticipated reform of the English private rental sector (PRS) by the Renters’ Rights Act 2025. The PRS has doubled in size since 2010, acting as a social housing substitute for some households.

Things at Work: How Things Contribute to Performing Work

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, Volume 63, Issue 3, Page 1155-1191, May 2026.
Abstract A crucial question for organizations is what constitutes work performance. While the importance of human competence and motivation to work performance has been established, less well understood is how ‘things’ – such as algorithms, tools, instruments, and raw materials – contribute to work performance.

Business Groups after Incidents of Wrongdoing: Exploring the Effectiveness of Differentiated Versus Aligned Impression Management Tactics

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, Volume 63, Issue 3, Page 1303-1340, May 2026.
Abstract We use attribution theory to understand how people evaluate a company when another company in the same business network does something wrong. In studying business groups, we find that when one company affiliated with a group commits wrongdoing, the strategies used by other affiliated companies to manage how they are evaluated are only ...
