The master molecule that built biology: How water shaped the chemistry of life. [PDF]
Abstract The deep entanglement of biomolecular structure and function with aqueous systems supports the view that water actively sculpted both molecules and processes during the origins of life and continues to constrain evolution today. Nature's rules of biochemistry and biophysics have survived for nearly 4 billion years.

Gibbs’ Paradox in the Light of Newton’s Notion of State
In this letter, it is argued that the correct counting of microstates is obtained from the very beginning when using Newtonian rather than Laplacian state functions, because the former are intrinsically permutation invariant.

Perfect mirrors and the self-accelerating box paradox [PDF]
We consider the question raised by Unruh and Wald of whether mirrored boxes can self-accelerate in flat spacetime (the ``self-accelerating box paradox''). From the point of view of the box, which perceives the acceleration as an impressed gravitational

On the M\"uller paradox for thermal-incompressible media [PDF]
In his monograph Thermodynamics, I. M\"uller proves that for incompressible media the volume does not change with the temperature. This M\"uller paradox yields an incompatibility between experimental evidence and the entropy principle.

Gibbs Paradox and Similarity Principle
As no heat effect and mechanical work are observed, we have a simple experimental resolution of the Gibbs paradox: both the thermodynamic entropy of mixing and the Gibbs free energy change are zero during the formation of any ideal mixtures. Information loss is the driving force of these spontaneous processes.

Distinguishability in Entropy Calculations: Chemical Reactions, Conformational and Residual Entropy
By analyzing different examples of practical entropy calculations and using concepts such as conformational and residual entropies, I show herein that experimental calorimetric entropies of single molecules can be theoretically reproduced considering ...

A quantum solution to Gibbs Paradox with few particles
We present a fully quantum solution to the Gibbs paradox (GP) with an illustration based on a gedanken experiment with two particles trapped in an infinite potential well.

The Geography of Success: A Spatial Analysis of Export Intensity in the Italian Wine Industry
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the paradox of how Italy's fragmented, SME‐dominated wine industry achieves global export success. Moving beyond purely firm‐centric explanations, we test whether export intensity is spatially dependent, clustering geographically in regional ecosystems.

Some Observations on the Concepts of Information-Theoretic Entropy and Randomness
: Certain aspects of the history, derivation, and physical application of the information-theoretic entropy concept are discussed. Pre-dating Shannon, the concept is traced back to Pauli.
