We propose the gill-breathing simulation system Gill+Man. The system presents the sense of breathing through gills like a fish. The Gill+Man system comprises three devices, namely a breath-sensing device, swallowing sense presenting device, and gill sense presenting device. These devices use simple stimulation and combine to produce the sense of having

Mechanoreceptor activity in the gills of the carp. I. Gill filament and gill raker mechanoreceptors
Respiration Physiology, 1987Physiological properties of gill filament and gill raker mechanoreceptors in the gills of spontaneously breathing carp, Cyprinus carpio L., were analysed. Stroking stimuli applied to gill filaments elicited a phasic mechanoreceptive response, which was recorded from neurons in the epibranchial ganglia.

Salmonid gill bacteria and their relationship to amoebic gill disease
Journal of Fish Diseases, 2004Abstract16S ribosomal RNA gene analysis was used to assess the bacterial community associated with Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar L., gills which were either affected by amoebic gill disease (AGD) or were AGD‐negative, in order to determine the role that bacteria may play in the development of AGD.

Perhaps the best way to approach the relationship between Deleuze and Agamben is to adopt a method from Deleuze and Guattari’s late philosophy: the conceptual persona.1 Here philosophical proper names do not stand for biographies or persons but for orientations or maps of thinking. Descartes, for example, enables a whole tradition of Cartesian dualism,

The fish gill is a highly complex organ that performs a wide variety of physiological processes and receives extensive nervous innervation from both afferent (sensory) and efferent (motor) fibres. Innervation from the latter source includes autonomic nerve fibres of spinal (sympathetic) and cranial (parasympathetic) origin whose primary role is to ...

We review the literature on the way the structure of icefish gills relates the physiology of these haemoglobin-less fishes. Vascular casting confirmed earlier reports that the only special feature of the gills is the large size of the blood vessels, especially the prominent and continuous marginal channels Isolated perfused gill arches were used to ...
