Aging and periodontitis increase brain dissemination of oral bacteria
Abstract Background The microbiome is a dynamic system that changes throughout life. Studies have revealed the relationship between periodontal disease and the oral microbiota; however, the impact of periodontal disease on the expression of senescence markers and on the inflammaging of the oral and systemic microbiome remains unclear.

Smoking effects on root coverage outcomes between 3 and 12 months: A prospective cohort study
Abstract Background This study aimed to evaluate the impact of smoking on root coverage outcomes, comparing healing responses at 3–12 months following coronally advanced flap with a connective tissue graft (CAF+CTG). Methods This prospective cohort study included 27 participants (13 smokers, 14 non‐smokers) who required root coverage for a single Cairo

Gingival proteomics reveals the role of TGF beta and YAP/TAZ signaling in Raine syndrome fibrosis
Raine syndrome (RNS) is a rare autosomal recessive osteosclerotic dysplasia. RNS is caused by loss-of-function disease-causative variants of the FAM20C gene that encodes a kinase that phosphorylates most of the secreted proteins found in the body fluids ...

MICROBIAL DNA RECEPTOR EXPRESSION IN CHRONIC PERIODONTITIS [PDF]
AIM: The aim of this study was to determine the expression of microbial nucleic acid receptors including Toll like receptor 9 “TLR-9”, DNA-dependent activator of interferon-regulatory factors “DAI” and absent in melanoma “AIM-2” in chronic periodontitis

ABSTRACT This study evaluated the effects of puerarin and adipose‐derived stem cells (ADSCs), alone or combined, on p38MAPK activity, alveolar bone preservation, and inflammatory responses in a rat periodontitis (PD) model and in vitro. ADSCs were exposed to various puerarin concentrations to assess cell proliferation, osteogenic differentiation, and ...

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.
