Just Transition in Europe: A Regional Analysis of Environmental Inequality

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The European Green Deal and the just‐transition agenda promise that no person and no place will be left behind, yet the regional distribution of multi‐impact, emission‐based environmental burdens remains insufficiently understood across Europe.

Integrating multimodal data and machine learning for entrepreneurship research

open access: yesStrategic Entrepreneurship Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary Extant research in neuroscience suggests that human perception is multimodal in nature—we model the world integrating diverse data sources such as sound, images, taste, and smell. Working in a dynamic environment, entrepreneurs are expected to draw on multimodal inputs in their decision making.

Why World Redistribution Fails [PDF]

open access: yes
An optimal linear world income tax that maximizes a border-neutral social welfare function provides a drastic reduction in world consumption inequality, dropping the Gini coefficient from 0.69 to 0.25.

Local Eviction Moratoria and the Spread of COVID‐19

open access: yesSouthern Economic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT At different stages during the initial onset of the COVID‐19 pandemic, various US states and local municipalities enacted eviction moratoria. One of the main aims of these moratoria was to slow the spread of COVID‐19 infections. We deploy a semiparametric difference‐in‐differences approach with an event study specification to examine whether ...

A note on the decomposition of the coefficient of variation squared: comparing entropy and Dagum's methods [PDF]

open access: yes
The aim of this paper is to propose a new decomposition of the coefficient of variation squared. The approach is similar to the Dagum's method when decomposing the Gini index.

Additive Manufacturing of Hot‐Work Tool Steel by In Situ Alloying Using Laser Powder Bed Fusion and Directed Energy Deposition—Strategies to Improve Chemical Homogeneity

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
To support future alloy development a powder mixture is processed by laser additive manufacturing. The powder mixture containing Mo‐ and W‐rich tracers is processed by powder bed fusion using single and double laser exposure and by directed energy deposition which provides drastically enlarged melt pools.
