AMONG THE MYTHS AND REALITIES: THE MYTH OF SEYYİD VAKKAS IN GİRESUN AND SEYYİD MEHMED PASHA OF GİRESUN

The conquest of Giresun city by the Turks caused the birth of some myths like many other Anatolian cities. Among them one of the most important figure is Seyyid Vakkas who is known to be a martyr who did not surrender his head. The tomb which carries his name seems to be the real reason for his well known name around the region.
