Girls Girls Girls Girls Girls: The Trans-Atlantic Mass Magazine Culture of the 1920s as a Gendered Affair

open access: yesJournal of European Periodical Studies, 2023
The article explores the ways in which illustrated magazines of the Weimar period contribute to a larger gendering of transnational exchange, particularly through image-text doubling and shifts. It takes the Weimar society magazine Uhu as a major reference point, investigating how it modelled itself on American lifestyle and ‘smart’ magazines and made ...

Histopathological effects of hypervitaminosis-D and the protective role of fetuin-A in renal, hepatic, and cardiac tissues in a murine model

open access: yesScientific Reports
Hypervitaminosis D leads to toxic effects, including hypercalcemia, which can cause severe damage to various organs. Fetuin-A, a glycoprotein with anti-inflammatory properties, may protect tissues from such damage.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 6, Page 1429-1452, June 2026.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
