Teaching Data Science to Diverse Learners: A Hybrid and Interdisciplinary Approach

open access: yesTeaching Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper describes the development and delivery of an introductory data science course designed for interdisciplinary master's students studying in a hybrid format, without advanced mathematics prerequisites. The course addresses the increasing need for data science skills among non‐specialists, preparing them to tackle real‐world challenges.

Platelet clotting defects in severe trauma identified by a whole blood microfluidic assay

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Hemorrhage is the leading cause of preventable death in severe trauma, with primary hemostasis relying on platelet‐rich clot formation under high shear flow. This study quantifies the incidence, severity, and heterogeneity of platelet dysfunction in Level I trauma patients.

Antiviral regulator TRIM25 as a prognostic marker of better survival in Merkel cell carcinoma: Association with MCPyV status

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 12, Page 3268-3278, 15 June 2026.
What's new? TRIM25 is known for its role in antiviral immunity and association with poor prognosis in various cancers. This study reveals an association between high TRIM25 expression and Merkel cell polyomavirus positivity in Merkel cell carcinoma.

Nanoshell Fabrication Techniques for Probiotic Encapsulation: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Probiotics, beneficial microorganisms, confer numerous health benefits when administered. However, their efficacy is hindered by harsh gut conditions, including acidity, bile acids, and enzymatic degradation. To overcome these challenges, encapsulation and nanoshell technology have emerged as a pivotal strategy to enhance probiotic stability ...

The Occurrence of Microplastic Ingestion in Commercial Marine Fish in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia

open access: yesEnvironmental Quality Management, Volume 35, Issue 4, Summer 2026.
ABSTRACT Microplastics are polymer‐based particle compositions of various toxic chemicals with size less than 5 mm. Due to their small size, microplastics can be ingested and accumulate in body tissues of organisms. This raises concerns about their toxicity being transferred to humans via food consumption.

Unimolecular GLP‐1/Apelin Hybrid Peptides Cause Prominent Appetite Suppression, as Well as Enhancing Insulin Secretion, Beta‐Cell Survival and Glycaemic Regulation

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 6, Page 4706-4717, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To characterise the metabolic benefits of a GLP‐1/apelin hybrid peptide, namely exendin‐4‐linker‐apelin (ELA), and associated acylated forms, including ELA‐Lys12(γGluPal), ELA‐Lys27(γGluPal) and ELA‐Lys38(γGluPal). Methods Concentration‐ and receptor‐dependent effects of the peptides on insulin secretion and beta‐cell turnover were ...
