Gittins index based control policy for a class of pursuit‐evasion problems [PDF]
In this study, the authors develop a novel approach to a class of pursuit‐evasion problems modelled in the form of discrete time feedback control systems, where the opposing parties have asymmetric capability. The authors assume the control policy of the evader, described as a random variable, is unknown to the pursuer.

On the Gittins Index for Multiarmed Bandits
The authors reprove the optimality of the Gittins index policy for the multiarmed bandit problem in a simple, intuitive way. Previous research is reviewed in the light of this new proof and it is shown that the optimal value function is a submodular set function of the available projects.

Gittins' theorem under uncertainty
We study dynamic allocation problems for discrete time multi-armed bandits under uncertainty, based on the the theory of nonlinear expectations. We show that, under independence assumption on the bandits and with some relaxation in the definition of ...

We used 4 sampling methods to estimate or index the abundance and sex ratio of spotted salamanders (Ambystoma maculatum) over 14 years. The present study highlights the importance of considering individual heterogeneity in capture probability when estimating abundance of pond‐breeding amphibians from capture data with imperfect detection. Abstract Long‐

Multi-Armed Bandits and the Gittins Index
Summary A plausible conjecture (C) has the implication that a relationship (12) holds between the maximal expected rewards for a multi-project process and for a one-project process (F and φi respectively), if the option of retirement with reward M is available.

Abstract This study explores the intersection of the informal and circular economies and its implications for business, management and organization (BMO) scholarship and practice. Informal circularity, practices of collecting, reusing, repairing, recycling and repurposing materials outside formal economic, legal and regulatory arrangements, constitutes

Abstract Fluorescent proteins (FPs) are diverse and widespread pigments in reef‐building corals, assumed to modulate the internal light microenvironment within coral tissues. Yet, their precise distribution and organization at the tissue and cellular levels remain poorly understood, limiting our understanding of their functional roles.

‘From a place of vulnerability’: Experiences of Voice Dialogue to explore self‐criticism
Abstract Objective/Background Voice Dialogue is a method used to explore and understand different parts of the self. It involves direct communication between a facilitator and aspects of the self to enhance awareness, understanding and differentiation from inner voices.

Abstract Swarms are microearthquake clusters governed by aseismic deformation, fluid migration, and stress changes, but the underlying mechanisms for their recurrence remain elusive. In 2008, abundant swarms were observed on the westernmost Gofar transform fault.
