Holocene sea‐level and environmental changes on the Isle of Mull, Scotland

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, Volume 41, Issue 3, Page 400-418, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Sea‐level and coastal changes are reconstructed on the Isle of Mull, western Scotland, from 10 988 to 10 507 cal BP to the present. This research has produced the first SLIP for the Isle of Mull. A multiproxy approach including pollen, spore, foraminifera and diatom analyses reveals palaeoenvironmental changes from two coastal sites.

GNET Derived Mass Balance and Glacial Isostatic Adjustment Constraints for Greenland

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Monitoring the Greenland mass balance (GMB) is crucial in the context of global sea level rise. Currently, three main methods are used to measure GMB, with the primary source of uncertainty arising from the glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) contribution.

The sedimentary legacy of a palaeo-ice stream on the shelf of the southern Bellingshausen Sea: Clues to West Antarctic glacial history during the Late Quaternary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A major trough ("Belgica Trough") eroded by a palaeo-ice stream crosses the continental shelf of the southern Bellingshausen Sea (West Antarctica) and is associated with a trough mouth fan ("Belgica TMF") on the adjacent continental slope.

On postglacial sea level—III. Incorporating sediment redistribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We derive a generalized theory for gravitationally self-consistent, static sea level variations on earth models of arbitrary complexity that takes into account the redistribution of sediments. The theory is an extension of previous work that incorporated,

On the Accuracy of Glacial Isostatic Adjustment Models for Geodetic Observations to Estimate Arctic Ocean Sea-Level Change

open access: yesTerrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2013
Arctic Ocean sea-level change is an important indicator of climate change. Contemporary geodetic observations, including data from tide gages, satellite altimetry and Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE), are sensitive to the effect of the ...

Satellite data reveal details of glacial isostatic adjustment in the Amundsen Sea Embayment, West Antarctica [PDF]

open access: yesThe Cryosphere
The instability of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) is a tipping element in the climate system, and it is mainly dictated by changes in the ice flow behaviour of the outflow glaciers in the Amundsen Sea Embayment (ASE).

Space geodesy constrains ice age terminal deglaciation: The global ICE-6G_C (VM5a) model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A new model of the last deglaciation event of the Late Quaternary ice age is here described and denoted as ICE-6G_C (VM5a). It differs from previously published models in this sequence in that it has been explicitly refined by applying all of the ...

Effects of Andrade and Burgers rheologies on glacial isostatic adjustment modeling in Antarctica

open access: yesGeodesy and Geodynamics
Variations in ice mass deform the Earth and modify its gravity field, a process known as Glacial Isostatic Adjustment (GIA). GIA in Antarctica remains poorly constrained due to the cumulative effect of past and present ice-mass changes, the unknown ...

Statistical analysis of the acceleration of Baltic mean sea-level rise, 1900-2012

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2016
We analyse annual mean sea-level records from tide-gauges located in the Baltic and parts of the North Sea with the aim of detecting an acceleration of sea-level rise over the 20textsuperscript{th} and 21textsuperscript{st} centuries.
