Verification and Validation of Log-Periodic Power Law Models [PDF]
We propose and implement a nonlinear Verification and Validation (V&V) methodology to test two fitting procedures for the log-periodic power law model (LPPL), a model that has diverse applications across data analysis, but known estimation issues. Prior studies have focused on ex-post analyses of rare events: Earthquakes, glacial break-off events, and ...

Middle Archaic Complex of Northwest Arkansas [PDF]
After the end of the Wisconsin glacial there occurred an interval called the Neothermal in the southwestern portion of the United States. The Neothermal is comprised of three consecutive tempera-ture intervals: the Anathermal, Altithermal, and ...

The impact of frailty syndrome on skeletal muscle histology: preventive effects of exercise
Frailty syndrome exacerbates skeletal muscle degeneration via increased ECM deposition and myofiber loss. This study, using a murine model, demonstrates that endurance exercise attenuates these histopathological alterations, preserving muscle integrity. Findings support exercise as a viable strategy to counteract frailty‐induced musculoskeletal decline

Glacial Lakes in the Nepal Himalaya: Inventory and Decadal Dynamics (1977–2017)
Himalayan glaciers, in general, are shrinking and glacial lakes are evolving and growing rapidly in number and size as a result of climate change. This study presents the latest remote sensing-based inventory (2017) of glacial lakes (size ≥0.0036 ...

Phase 1, First‐In‐Human, Single‐/Multiple‐Ascending Dose Study of Iluzanebart in Healthy Volunteers
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of iluzanebart, a fully human monoclonal antibody TREM2 (triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2) agonist, after single‐ (SAD) and multiple‐ascending‐dose (MAD) administration.

Modelling Coupled Oscillations of Volcanic CO2 Emissions and Glacial Cycles [PDF]
Following the mid-Pleistocene transition, the dominant period of glacial cycles changed from 40 ka to ~100 ka. It is broadly accepted that the 40 ka glacial cycles were driven by cyclical changes in obliquity. However, this forcing does not explain the ~100 ka glacial cycles.

The Glacial Period and the Irish Fauna [PDF]
MR. LAMPLUGH assumes (NATURE, January 13, p. 245) the correctness of the view that during the Glacial Period the basin of the Irish Sea was filled with an ice-sheet, and argues that my “interesting speculations” on the origin of the Irish fauna, in so far as they are based upon assumptions as to the glacial conditions of the Irish Sea, will therefore ...

Universal Proteomic Signature After Exercise‐Induced Muscle Injury in Muscular Dystrophies
ABSTRACT Objective Several neuromuscular disorders (NMDs) are characterized by progressive muscle damage and are marked by the elevation of circulating muscle proteins from activity‐related injury. Despite a diverse array of genetic drivers, many NMDs share similar patterns of exercise intolerance and higher concentrations of muscle injury proteins ...
