Curricular justice in a complex world

open access: yesThe Curriculum Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper is a response to articles published in this Special Issue of the journal. In the paper, I reflect upon the issue of curricular justice, offering comment on issues raised in the constituent papers of the Special Issue. The arguments are structured around four themes: education IS political; the questions of whose knowledge should be ...

Untangling sedimentation processes in a deep fjord lake in Labrador: A high‐resolution archive of past environment dynamics at Grand Lake

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, EarlyView.
Sedimentological and geochemical characteristics are used to reconstruct sedimentation dynamics and erosional processes. Several rapidly deposited layers are characterised over changing depositional environments during the Late Holocene, from a phase when the lake was connected to the sea to a more stable state conducive to varve formation.

Late Pleistocene to Holocene sedimentation in the Great Blue Hole (Lighthouse Reef, Belize): Results from a 30 m long core

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, EarlyView.
A 30 m long sedimentary succession at the bottom of the Belize Blue Hole represents terrestrial cenote (12.5–7.2 ka BP), restricted marine swamp (7.2–5.7 ka BP) and fully marine lagoonal phases (5.7–0 ka BP) on Lighthouse Reef carbonate platform. Post‐glacial and Holocene sea‐level rise largely controlled the sedimentological, faunal and floral changes

A continuous 500‐year sediment record of inundation by local and distant tsunamis in South‐Central Chile (40.1°S)

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, EarlyView.
Tsunami events over the past 500 years inundated Laguna Gemela West (Chile), leading to distinct sandy deposits in the lake record. This provides a complete perspective on tsunami inundation, including giant tsunamis, small local tsunamis and tsunamis that originated >100 km away from the site.
