Hydraulic and mechanical properties of glacial sediments beneath Unteraargletscher, Switzerland: implications for glacier basal motion [PDF]
The force on a ‘ploughmeter’ and subglacial water pressure have been measured in the same borehole at Unteraargletscher, Switzerland, in order to investigate ice–sediment coupling and the motion at the base of a soft-bedded glacier.

Reconciling Svalbard Glacier Mass Balance
Since the first estimates of Svalbard-wide glacier mass balance were made in the early 2000s, there has been great progress in remote sensing and modeling of mass balance, existing field records have been extended, field records at new locations have ...

Distribution and UV protection strategies of zooplankton in clear and glacier-fed alpine lakes
Zooplankton, a group of aquatic animals important as trophic link in the food web, are exposed to high levels of UV radiation (UVR) in clear alpine lakes, while in turbid glacier-fed lakes they are more protected.

Response of Marine‐Terminating Glaciers to Forcing: Time Scales, Sensitivities, Instabilities, and Stochastic Dynamics [PDF]
Recent observations indicate that many marine‐terminating glaciers in Greenland and Antarctica are currently retreating and thinning, potentially due to long‐term trends in climate forcing.

The Open Global Glacier Model (OGGM) v1.1
. Despite their importance for sea-level rise, seasonal water availability, and as a source of geohazards, mountain glaciers are one of the few remaining subsystems of the global climate system for which no globally applicable, open source, community ...

Identification of inhibitors of the Salmonella FraB deglycase, a drug target
A high‐throughput screen was used to identify inhibitors of Salmonella FraB, a drug target. Characterization of top hits (identified after an additional counter screen) revealed that some triazolidines, thiadiazolidines, and triazolothiadiazoles are mixed‐type inhibitors of FraB.

Hazard from Himalayan glacier lake outburst floods
Significance Glacier lake outburst floods (GLOFs) have become emblematic of a changing mountain cryosphere. The Himalayas suffered the highest losses from these sudden pulses of meltwater but lack a quantitative appraisal of GLOF hazard.
