Conditional Random Fields for Improving Deep Learning-Based Glacier Calving Front Delineations
IGARSS 2023 - 2023 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2023Big advancements in the field of Deep Learning allow the automated extraction of glacier calving fronts from satellite imagery. However, current efforts on Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery still produce coarse and partly spurious predictions ...

Automatic glacier calving front delineation on terrasar-x and sentinel-1 sar imagery
2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017This paper presents an approach for automatic calving front delineation of marine-terminating outlet glaciers. We utilize a Canny edge detection approach together with a shortest path optimization problem to find calving front locations (CFL) on SAR backscattering images from Sentinel-1 and TerraSAR-X.

AbstractClimate change is decreasing watershed glacial coverage throughout Alaska, impacting the biogeochemistry of downstream ecosystems. We collected streamwater fortnightly over the glacial runoff period from three streams of varying watershed glacier coverage (0–49%) and a subglacial outflow to assess how glacier recession impacts the relative ...

Quantitative delineation of water sources in the river Ganga using stable water isotopes
Rivers Research and Applications: an international journal devoted to river research and management, 2023Quantitative delineation of water sources in a large river system is essential for the sustainable use of water. In the present study, we have tested two different methodologies to estimate the contribution from different water sources in the river Ganga.
