Glacier Extraction from Cloudy Satellite Images Using a Multi-Task Generative Adversarial Network Leveraging Transformer-Based Backbones

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Accurate delineation of glacier extent is crucial for monitoring glacier degradation in the context of global warming. Satellite remote sensing with high spatial and temporal resolution offers an effective approach for large-scale glacier mapping ...

Ice front positions for Greenland glaciers (2002–2021): a spatially extensive seasonal record and benchmark dataset for algorithm validation [PDF]

open access: yesEarth System Science Data
Glacier terminus (ice-front) positions are key indicators of glacier dynamic variability and ice–ocean–atmosphere interactions and provide essential time-varying boundary conditions for ice-sheet modelling. High-precision, spatially extensive records are

A new glacier inventory on southern Baffin Island, Canada, from ASTER data: I. Applied methods, challenges and solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The quantitative assessment of glacier changes as well as improved modeling of climatechange impacts on glaciers requires digital vector outlines of individual glacier entities.

Multi‐Enzyme Mimetic Molybdenum Nitride Nanozymes Reshape Subgingival Microenvironment for Synergistic Periodontitis Therapy via ROS Regulation and Microbiome Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory disease initiated and sustained by plaque microorganisms and host immune response, remains an intractable oral disease and a leading cause of tooth loss worldwide. Traditional mechanical debridement and adjunctive antibiotic or antiseptic therapy often shows limited efficacy due to the complex anatomical ...

UCHL3 Regulates Subgenomic Flaviviral RNA Condensates to Promote Virus Propagation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Flavivirus subgenomic RNAs (sfRNAs) antagonise antiviral defences, yet how sfRNAs are organized and maintained in cells remains poorly understood. Here we identify ubiquitin C‐terminal hydrolase L3 (UCHL3) as a post‐translational regulator of flavivirus sfRNA stability and function.

Glacier area shrinkage in eastern Nepal Himalaya since 1992 using high-resolution inventories from aerial photographs and ALOS satellite images

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 2016
To better understand the recent wide-scale changes in glacier coverage, we created and compared two glacier inventories covering eastern Nepal, based on aerial photographs (1992) and high-resolution Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) imagery (2006 ...

Ultrasound‐Activated Bifunctional Piezoelectric Hydrogel Dressings Promote Infected Wound Healing via Regulating Angiogenesis and Lymphangiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a double‐network hydrogel with piezoelectric properties, exhibiting excellent antibacterial activity and promoting fibroblast migration, angiogenesis, and lymphangiogenesis through piezoelectric stimulation, thereby accelerating the healing of infected chronic wounds.

Compiling a new glacier inventory for southeastern Qinghai–Tibet Plateau from Landsat and PALSAR data

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 2016
Glacier change has been recognized as an important climate variable due to its sensitive response to climate change. Although there are a large number of glaciers distributed over the southeastern Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau, the region is poorly represented

Chitosan‐Carbon Dot Composite Materials Form a Leaf Surface Barrier to Mitigate the Enrichment and Invasion of Nanoplastics: From Leaf Interface to Systemic Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Foliar spraying of CS‐CDs can form a film on the leaves of Brassica rapa, effectively reducing the enrichment and absorption of PS in the leaves, while increasing the biomass and nutrient content of the plants. In addition, CS‐CDs can also enrich the interfoliar microbial community and activate the plant's own defense metabolic pathways.

Calving front positions for 42 key glaciers of the Antarctic Peninsula Ice Sheet: a sub-seasonal record from 2013 to 2023 based on deep-learning application to Landsat multi-spectral imagery [PDF]

open access: yesEarth System Science Data
Calving front positions of marine-terminating glaciers are an essential parameter for understanding dynamic glacier changes and constraining ice modelling.
