Testing hypotheses of the cause of peripheral thinning of the Greenland Ice Sheet: is land-terminating ice thinning at anomalously high rates? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Recent observations have shown that the periphery of the Greenland ice sheet (GrIS) is thinning rapidly and that this thinning is greatest around marine-terminating outlet glaciers. Several theories have been proposed which provide a link between climate

Flow velocity records at rock glacier Outer Hochebenkar (Äußeres Hochebenkar), 2016

open access: yes, 2021
Surface velocities have been regularly monitored at the rock glacier in Outer Hochebenkar, Ötztal Alps, Austria since the early 1950s. This data collection provides surface velocity time series, showing mean profile velocities of four cross profiles ...

Biodegradable Chitosan Films as Green Resists for Gold Nanowires Fabrication Through AFM‐Based Nanolithography

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of a sustainable nanofabrication process: chitosan derived from natural sources is used as a biodegradable thin film resist, patterned via Constant Pulse‐Assisted Force Lithography (CP‐AFL) to create tunable nanogrooves. These grooves template gold nanowire formation, enabling high‐resolution nanopatterning under ambient ...

Helheim Glacier ice velocity variability responds to runoff and terminus position change at different timescales

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Factors driving ice flow variability in Greenland vary by timescale. At seasonal scale, Helheim Glacier ice velocity responds most strongly to meltwater runoff. Glacier terminus position drives velocity variability at longer time scales.

Variations in Velocity of Athabasca Glacier with Time [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 1964
AbstractThe physical setting of the Athabasca Glacier is described. Ablation of ice from the glacier contributes roughly 40 per cent of the annual outflow from the lake at the terminus. Variations of ice velocity, measured over periods ranging from a week to four months, are discussed.

Multi‐Enzyme Mimetic Molybdenum Nitride Nanozymes Reshape Subgingival Microenvironment for Synergistic Periodontitis Therapy via ROS Regulation and Microbiome Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory disease initiated and sustained by plaque microorganisms and host immune response, remains an intractable oral disease and a leading cause of tooth loss worldwide. Traditional mechanical debridement and adjunctive antibiotic or antiseptic therapy often shows limited efficacy due to the complex anatomical ...

Ultrasound‐Activated Bifunctional Piezoelectric Hydrogel Dressings Promote Infected Wound Healing via Regulating Angiogenesis and Lymphangiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a double‐network hydrogel with piezoelectric properties, exhibiting excellent antibacterial activity and promoting fibroblast migration, angiogenesis, and lymphangiogenesis through piezoelectric stimulation, thereby accelerating the healing of infected chronic wounds.

Recovery of Petermann Glacier Velocity from SAR Imagery Using a Spatiotemporal Hybrid Neural Network

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Numerous studies have demonstrated the potential of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) in monitoring glacier velocity. However, owing to the complex dynamics of glaciers and the variability of their surface features, velocity fields derived from even short ...

Debris Emergence Elevations and Glacier Change

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2021
Debris-covered glaciers represent potentially significant stores of freshwater in river basins throughout High Mountain Asia (HMA). Direct glacier mass balance measurements are extremely difficult to maintain on debris-covered glaciers, and optical ...

Annual and Seasonal Variations in Glacier Velocity, and Surging Glaciers in the West Kunlun Mountain

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Monitoring glacier velocity is crucial for revealing glacier dynamics and clarifying the responses of glaciers to climate change. The West Kunlun mountain (WKM) is at the center of the Karakoram Anomaly; however, insufficient systematic studies have been conducted to determine glacier velocities in this region.
