Bioinspired Mechanically Robust Organic–Inorganic Hybridized Bio‐Adhesives With up to 50% Inorganic Components by Bi‐Continuous Phase Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A robust plant protein adhesive was prepared by fabricating a bi‐continuous organic–inorganic hybrid structure. Compared with traditional organic–inorganic hybrid adhesives, the addition amount of inorganic phase is increased from 0.2%–3.0% to 50%, and the strength and toughness are increased by 6 and 121 times, respectively.

Rapid sequestration of rock avalanche deposits within glaciers

open access: yes, 2015
Topographic development in mountainous landscapes is a complex interplay between tectonics, climate and denudation. Glaciers erode valleys to generate headwall relief, and hillslope processes control the height and retreat of the peaks.

Glacier size changes in Kronotsky Peninsula and Alney-Chashakondzha Massif, Kamchatka Peninsula in the second half of XX century and the beginning of XXI century

open access: yesЛëд и снег, 2015
As it is known from recent investigations 448 glaciers are situated on the Kamchatka Peninsula, their total area are about 905 km2 [8]. More than 80% of them are glaciers of the Sredinny Range and the Klyuchevskaya group that is explained by large ...

Reconstruction of Past Glacier Changes with an Ice-Flow Glacier Model: Proof of Concept and Validation

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2021
Estimations of global glacier mass changes over the course of the 20th century require automated initialization methods, allowing the reconstruction of past glacier states from limited information. In a previous study, we developed a method to initialize

Surge-type and surge-modified glaciers in the Karakoram

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Glaciers in the Karakoram exhibit irregular behavior. Terminus fluctuations of individual glaciers lack consistency and, unlike other parts of the Himalaya, total ice mass remained stable or slightly increased since the 1970s. These seeming anomalies are

Tracking Spatiotemporal Extracellular Matrix Evolution and Tissue Fusion in 3D Microtissues via Click Chemistry‐Based Metabolic Labelling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Metabolic labeling of nascent proteins in 3D microtissue spheroids provides a powerful analytical approach for large‐scale tissue engineering. Incorporation of non‐canonical amino acids with fluorescent tagging enables spatiotemporal investigation of extracellular matrix deposition and its evolution during multicellular tissue development and fusion ...

Snowfall decrease in recent years undermines glacier health and meltwater resources in the Northwestern Pamirs

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
Central Asia hosts some of the world’s last relatively healthy mountain glaciers and is heavily dependent on snow and ice melt for downstream water supply, though the causes of this stable glacier state are not known.

Tracing the rapid loss of Breifonn, Norway’s southernmost glacier

open access: yesAnnals of Glaciology
Global climate change is causing glaciers to shrink, and in some cases, to vanish completely. Glaciers in Norway are no exception. Glacier inventories, archived imagery and topographic maps across Norway help trace the decadal evolution of individual ...

Adaptable Covalent Organic Framework‐Hydrogel Microneedles for Glucose‐Responsive Isoliquiritigenin Delivery in Diabetic Wound Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a covalent organic framework‐loaded Traditional Chinese Medicine monomer nanodrug delivery system (ISL@bCOF) via boron‐oxygen bonds, a smart response to glucose for delivering AI‐driven isoliquiritigenin (ISL) targeting ZBP1. This dynamic release mechanism, combined with transdermal delivery technology via potent microneedles, can modulate ...
