Magnetoresistance in Granular Co–Cu Glass-Coated Microwires

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2004
In this paper, we report on a considerable (up to about 18%) magnetoresistance (MR) effect in glass-coated Co-Cu microwires prepared from immiscible elements. Samples of Co/sub 10/Cu/sub 90/ microwires with a metallic nucleus diameter of 3-17 /spl mu/m and total diameter up to 25 /spl mu/m were prepared by the Taylor-Ulitovsky technique.

Magneto-elastic anisotropy of ferromagnetic glass-coated microwires

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2004
Abstract One of the interests of ferromagnetic glass-coated microwires is the possibility to engineer their anisotropy thanks to magneto-elastic effects. In this paper, we focus on the link between the stress models that have been established for these materials and the magneto-elastic behavior.

Complex susceptibility measurements in amorphous glass-coated microwires

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 2007
We have applied the measurement of the amplitude dependence of the complex AC susceptibility to study the magnetization processes in amorphous glass-coated microwires with positive, negative and vanishing magnetostriction. The features of the magnetization process (reversible domain wall movement, irreversible domain wall movement, reversible ...

Magneto-impedance in glass-coated CoMnSiB amorphous microwires

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1998
A magneto-impedance (MI) effect has been experimentally detected and systematically studied in Co/sub 68.5/Mn/sub 0.5/Si/sub 10/B/sub 15/ glass-coated amorphous microwire 14 /spl mu/m in diameter. The dependence of MI on a dc applied magnetic field (up to 20 Oe) for a range of values of ac current (less than 4 mA and having a frequency between 0.2 and ...

Tailoring of Magnetic Properties of Glass coated Microwires

MRS Proceedings, 2001
ABSTRACTThe magnetic behaviour of the glass-covered metallic microwires with a wide compositional range of composition with soft and hard magnetic character is presented. The effect of conventional furnace and dc current annealing under dc axial magnetic field or without it as well as of a chemical etching on the magnetic properties of Co and Fe-based ...

DSC studies of finemet-type glass-coated microwires

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2002
Abstract Effect of cyclic annealing on the Curie temperature, TC, of Fe71.8Cu1Nb3.1Si15B9.1 glass-coated microwires has been investigated. TC of the initially amorphous alloy strongly depends on annealing conditions. Monotonic increase of TC from 579 up to 591 K related with the relaxation of amorphous structure was found during annealing at 633 K ...

Interaction between Fe-rich ferromagnetic glass-coated microwires

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2002
Abstract Hysteresis loop measurements of several Fe-rich glass-coated amorphous microwires of Fe 65 Si 15 B 15 C 5 composition have been performed using the conventional fluxmetric and SQUID magnetometers and magneto-optical Kerr effect technique. The number of the wires used in the measurements has been varied from 1 to 10.

Glass-coated magnetic microwires for technical applications

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2002
Glass-coated Fe- and Co-rich ferromagnetic microwires exhibit excellent magnetic properties: magnetic bistability enhanced magnetic softness and GMI effect. Large stress sensitivity of magnetic characteristics has been observed. Conventional and field annealing permit to tailor such magnetic parameters as coercivity or magnetic permeability.

Glass-coated amorphous ferromagnetic microwires at microwave frequencies

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2009
The objective of the present investigation is to outline some of the more relevant microwave properties of glass-coated amorphous magnetic microwires. The introductory section includes a brief description of the quenching and drawing preparation procedure that determines their cylindrical shape, their amorphous nature and the presence of the glass ...
