On Pi Day, A Serving of Why We Need Math
Today, our Facebook feeds will be peppered with references to Pi Day, a day of celebration that has long been acknowledged by math fans and that Congress recognized in 2009. Every high schooler learns that pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle

Numerical study of the glass-glass transition in short-ranged attractive colloids
We report extensive numerical simulations in the {\it glass} region for a simple model of short-ranged attractive colloids, the square well model. We investigate the behavior of the density autocorrelation function and of the static structure factor in ...

Objectives Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a severe extra‐articular manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The study aimed to externally validate a genetic risk score (GRS) and a combined risk score for predicting the risk of RA‐associated PF in an independent cohort of early‐RA patients. Methods This study utilized an inception cohort of 1118 patients

Increasing the circularity of flat glass does not only mean to collect glass cullet from internal and pre- consumer processes. It also means to use glass cullet from the post- consumer applications, such as residential or commercial buildings.

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Bistable Mechanisms 3D Printing for Mechanically Programmable Vibration Control
This work introduces a 3D‐printed bistable mechanism integrated into tuned mass dampers (TMDs) for mechanically adaptive passive vibration suppression. Through optimized geometry, the bistable design provides adaptable vibration reduction across a broad range of scenarios, achieving effective vibration mitigation without complex controls or external ...
