Reversing Fatigue Damage in Carbon Fiber–Thermoplastic Composites Using Localized Plasma Heating

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 10, Page 8990-9001, 20 May 2026.
Schematic overview of the plasma‐assisted repair strategy for fatigue‐damaged short fiber carbon fiber/ABS composites. Pristine specimens are subjected to cyclic fatigue loading inducing damage. Localized plasma heating softens the thermoplastic matrix, enabling healing and restoring mechanical performance. Tensile testing is used to quantify recovery.

The tensile fatigue behavior of a glass-fiber reinforced plastic composite using a hybrid-toughened epoxy matrix [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A thermosetting epoxy-polymer was modified by incorporating 9 wt.% of carboxyl-terminated butadiene-acrylonitrile (CTBN) rubber microparticles and 10 wt.% of silica nanoparticles. The tensile fatigue behaviour at a stress ratio, R = 0.1 for both the neat

Behavior of structural concrete frames with hybrid reinforcement under cyclic loading

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2021
A substantial amount of work was carried out on the use of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) in reinforced concrete structural elements, which demonstrated considerable inelasticity or deformity through monotonic and cyclic loads. Even so, the action of FRP

Heat partition in edge trimming of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composites

open access: yesProcedia CIRP, 2019
Abstract Thermal loading of fiber reinforced composites during traditional machining is inevitable. This is due to the fact that most of the mechanical energy utilized in material removal is converted into heat, which is subsequently dissipated into the workpiece, the cutter and is carried away by the chips.
