Strengthening of Foam Glass Materials
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Experimental data on strengthening of foam glass materials is presented. A new mechanism of strengthening is proposed which involves formation of amorphous matrix nanoglobules. Highlights: nanospheroid occurrence in foam glass; new strengthening mechanism of amorphous materials; correlation between micro-structural changes in the interpore partition of

Radiation Characteristics of Glass Foams
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2000This paper is concerned with the analysis of the radiative heat transfer in glass foams. The closed‐form analytical model for the reflectance, transmittance, and absorptance of radiation by a foam layer has been utilized to assess the resistance of radiation heat transfer from the hot combustion gases and refractories to the molten glass in the ...

Recycle Glass in Foam Glass Production
2014The foam glass industry turn recycle glass into heat insulating building materials. The foaming process is relative insensitive to impurities in the recycle glass. It is therefore considered to play an important role in future glass recycling. We show and discuss trends of use of recycled glasses in foam glass industry and the supply sources and ...

Problems of Foam Glass Production
Glass and Ceramics, 2003Principles of producing foam glass rate considered. A correlation between structure and such properties as density, water absorption, strength, and thermal conductivity of materials obtained is demonstrated. The advantages, disadvantages, and prospects of a “cold” method for foam glass production are discussed.

Foaming behaviour on glass melts
1987The state of the art of foam stability is presented and applicability to specific problems in glass melts is discussed. The experimental part offers three measuring methods for the quantitative evaluation of foaming behaviour on glass melts: the direct observation of foam decay; stability investigations on single lamellae, and life time measurements of

Borosilicate glass foams from glass packaging residues
2014In the present study, pharmaceutical waste derived borosilicate glass (BSG) was investigated to fabricate foams without the addition of external foaming agents. Foaming was shown to occur when glass powder compacts were sintered at 950°C and above. It was found that foaming ability depended on the initial powder particle size and it was higher when the

Thermal Conductivity of Foam Glass [PDF]
Due to the increased focus on energy savings and waste recycling foam glass materials have gained increased attention. The production process of foam glass is a potential low-cost recycle option for challenging waste, e.g. CRT glass and industrial waste (fly ash and slags).
