Resolving long-range spatial correlations in jammed colloidal systems using photon correlation imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We introduce a new dynamic light scattering method, termed photon correlation imaging, which enables us to resolve the dynamics of soft matter in space and time.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Optimization of the properties of lightweight ceramic products using statistical methods [PDF]

open access: yesНанотехнологии в строительстве
Introduction. Improving the efficiency of ceramic bricks and blocks involves reducing their average density and corresponding thermal conductivity. One possible approach is to introduce porosity into the ceramic structure using burnable additives or ...

Effect of strain rate on the yielding mechanism of amorphous metal foam [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Stochastic amorphous Pd_(43)Ni_(10)Cu_(27)P_(20) foams were tested in quasistatic and dynamic loading. The strength/porosity relations show distinct slopes for the two loading conditions, suggesting a strain-rate-induced change in the foam yielding ...

Hot‐Film and Calorimetric Methods With Transient Heating for Measurement of High Biofluid Flow Rate

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Accurate measurement of biofluid flow rate is vital for clinical diagnostics. We propose a transient heating strategy using short thermal pulses and peak temperature tracking to enhance the flow sensitivity of the hot‐Film and calorimetric methods. Simulations show how optimal heating time maximizes sensitivity across flow rates.
