Effects of Cu substitution for Fe on the glass-forming ability and soft magnetic properties for Fe-based bulk metallic glasses

open access: yes, 2014
The effects of Cu substitution for Fe on the glass forming ability (GFA) and soft magnetic properties for Fe72-xCuxB20Si4Nb4 (x=0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0) bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) are investigated.

Wood Cellulosic Membrane With Abundant Nanochannels for Stabilizing Aqueous Zn‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐derived cellulosic membrane separator is developed to suppress dendrite growth in aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. Its aligned nanochannels and hydroxyl‐rich surfaces enable uniform Zn2+ flux, water immobilization, and interfacial stabilization. Zn||Zn cells achieve 1920 h of cycling, Zn||Cu cells maintain 99.5% Coulombic efficiency over 1000 cycles,

Coagulative Granular Hydrogels with an Enzyme Catalyzed Fibrin Network for Endogenous Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

Fabrication and properties of soft magnetic Fe-Co-Ni-P-C-B bulk metallic glasses with high glass-forming ability

open access: yes, 2015
Soft magnetic Fe-Co-Ni-P-C-B bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) with good combination of superior glass-forming ability (GFA), low glass transition temperature (T-g) and large supercooled liquid region (Delta T-x) were reported in this work.

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

A multi-analytical investigation into glass dopant incorporation [PDF]

open access: yes
The influence of various dopants on the properties and local structure of glass samples was explored and a quantitative determination of the structural changes in the network as the dopant concentration was varied was achieved using 27Al, 29Si, 33S MAS ...

Co‐Electrospinning Extracellular Matrix with Polycaprolactone Enables a Modular Approach to Balance Bioactivity and Mechanics of a Multifunctional Bone Wrap

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...
