Oviposition Site Selection in Three Glass Frog Species
Copeia, 2020Oviposition site selection is critical for the reproductive success of oviparous organisms. We investigated oviposition site selection in three species of glass frogs—Espadarana prosoblepon, Hyalinobatrachium valerioi, and Teratohyla spinosa—in northeastern Costa Rica.

Abstract Centrolenidae is a monophyletic group of Neotropical tree frogs. Centrolenid tadpoles usually lack pigmentation on their bodies, presenting reddish coloration in life, and are fossorial. Several phenotypic characters have been associated with fossoriality, but data on larval morphology is scarce.

AbstractThe morphology and organization of chromatophores in the neotropical glass‐frog, Centrolenella fleischmanni (family Centrolenidae), were studied with both light and electron microscopes. Four types of pigment cells are described in the dorsal skin.
