Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Effect of an electric field on an intermittent granular flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Granular gravity driven flows of glass beads have been observed in a silo with a flat bottom. A DC high electric field has been applied perpendicularly to the silo to tune the cohesion. The outlet mass flow has been measured.

The chemical and microstructural analysis of the adhesive properties of epoxy resin coatings modified using waste glass powder

open access: yes, 2020
The article presents the results of tests of epoxy resin coatings modified with the addition of waste glass powder. Pull-off strength tests were performed for ground and patch grabbed cementitious substrates. The results showed that the addition of 19.4%

Near‐Infrared Emitting Lanthanide Catecholate Giant Single Crystals – Morphology Control and Photon Down‐Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Hot isostatic pressing of ceramics [PDF]

open access: yes
A mixture containing glass 70 to 95 and BN or B4C powder (0.1-10 microns) 5 to 30 vol. % is used as a secondary pressure medium in hot isostatic pressing of ceramics. Thus, Pyrex beads were mixed with 15% vol.

Sintering of low-melting glass powders and glass-abrasive composites

open access: yesScience of Sintering, 2003
Sintering of glass powders in Na2O-B2O3-SiO2 and PbO-ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 systems as well as of their mixtures has been studied. The process of sintering is shown to change because of crystallization of the glass of the PbO-ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 system. Addition of diamond or cubic boron nitride to glass powders affects shrinkage in sintering composites. Sintering of

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by

Studi Pemanfaatan Limbah Kaca dan Piston Bekas sebagai Material Alternatif Kanvas Rem Sepeda Motor dengan Menggunakan Metode Metalurgi Serbuk [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Waste glass and piston can be used as alternative material to non-asbestos motorcycle brake pads based on their properties. Waste glass used as a reinforce, the piston used as a filler, and phenolic resin used as a binder.
