Exploring the critical behavior of the anomalous spin-glass transition in Ga1−xMnxS

open access: yesAIP Advances
Single-crystalline Ga1−xMnxS is a quasi-two-dimensional system that exhibits an anomalous spin-glass transition temperature compared with the other well-known spin-glass systems. In contrast to the other known spin-glasses that all have three-dimensional

Microstructure, Thermal Transport, and Dry‐Sliding Tribology of Powder‐Metallurgy Al7075 Composites Reinforced With Sol–Gel‐Derived ZnO–rGO Hybrid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...

Theoretical framework and experimental validation for monitoring the glass transition temperature of thermosets using a low-cost Fresnel reflection sensor

open access: yesPolymer Testing
The first part of this paper reports on the theoretical basis for using an optical fibre-based Fresnel reflection sensor for monitoring the cross-linking reactions, and subsequently, the evolution of the glass transition temperature.

Hybrid Metal–Carbon Ink for Printed Stretchable Temperature Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We prepare conductive inks for temperature sensing with silver flakes and carbon or graphite flakes in a silicone elastomer matrix. Silver dominates the temperature‐dependent conductivity, while the carbon filler network ensures the stability of the conductive pathways and retains function under strain.

Real-time atomic resolution dynamics of glass surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Although glasses are commonplace materials found in every walk of life, they have managed to remain mysterious for centuries. The origins of the defining characteristic of glasses, the glass transition, remain unknown. The glass transition is accompanied

Impact of MgO Additions on the Oxidation Resistance and Compression Behavior of Vanadium Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An increase in oxidation resistance at 600 °C is achieved for alloys containing more than 2.5 wt.% MgO. It has been established that, along with V2O5, MgO6V2, and Mg2O7V2 are formed, which are presumed to enhance oxidative stability. Furthermore, the possible transformation of Mg‐vanadates through reaction with CO2, which presumably occurs in this ...

Dielectric determination of the glass transition temperature (T sub g) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The objective is to determine the glass transition temperature of a polymer using a dielectric dissipation technique. A peak in the dissipation factor versus temperature curve is expected near the glass transition temperature T sub g.
