Redox behavior of biofilm on glassy carbon electrode

Bioelectrochemistry, 2011
Marine and freshwater biofilm usually shift the open circuit potential (OCP) of stainless steel towards the electropositive direction by +450 mV vs SCE. The nature of oxide film and bacterial metabolism were also correlated with ennoblement process by various investigators.

Measurements on glassy-carbon electrodes in saline

Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1977
Results of measurements on glassy carbon used as physiological measuring electrodes and as stimulating electrodes are presented. The frequency dependence of the electrode impedance is shown to be comparable with that of metallic electrodes. Because of its inertness to body tissue, the glassy carbon electrode appears to have favourable properties for ...

Electrochemical study of ricin at glassy carbon electrode

The Analyst, 2013
Ricin, Ricinus communis agglutinin 60 - RCA 60, is a deadly phytotoxic protein which inhibits ribosomes (class II), and there is no known effective antidote in living organisms. Ricin is composed of two polypeptide chains, A and B, linked covalently by a single disulfide bond.

UV/ozone pretreatment of glassy carbon electrodes

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, 2001
A commercial UV/ozone cleaning device is investigated for use in pretreating glassy-carbon (GC) electrodes. In combination with alumina polishing, UV/ozone pretreatment produces electrodes with high activity for oxidation of catecholamines and ascorbic acid.

Electrochemistry of ABTS at Glassy Carbon Electrodes

Chinese Journal of Chemical Physics, 2011
The electrochemical and the mass transport behavior of ABTS2−/ABTS.− (2,2′-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate)) redox couple at glassy carbon electrode (GCE) in phosphate buffer solution (PBS, pH=4.4) is studied in detail by cyclic voltammetry combined with rotating disk electrode system.

Surface injection catalysis at glassy carbon electrodes

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1989
Abstract Injection of solution species into glassy carbon electrodes has been monitored by Phase Detection Microscopy (PDM), and by sputter profiling and surface analysis. Electrochemical treatment in strongly alkaline solutions at positive voltage conditions caused swelling of the surface at local spots and eventual disruption of the surface with ...

Modification of Glassy Carbon Electrode with Pyridine

ECS Transactions, 2011
Glassy carbon electrodes were modified with pyridine by electrografting of the corresponding in situ generated diazonium cations. The diazonium cations formation from the 3-aminopyridine in acid media at room temperature was confirmed by UV spectroscopy. The presence of immobilized pyridine at the electrode surface was demonstrated by XPS measurements.

Electrosorption of quercetin on glassy carbon electrode

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, 2011
Abstract The present paper reports a concise study on the mechanism of electrosorption of quercetin (3,3′,4′,5,7-pentahydroxyflavone) molecule on glassy carbon (GC) electrode surface in 0.1 M sodium acetate–acetic acid buffer, in 90% methanol solution.
