Imaging of Glaucoma Drainage Devices

Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 2012
Previously reserved for patients with refractory glaucoma, glaucoma drainage devices (GDDs) are being used more frequently as a primary treatment option. Several types of GDDs are currently manufactured, only one of which is radiopaque. Knowledge of their typical imaging appearance in addition to pertinent background information is therefore vital for ...

Glaucoma drainage devices: pros and cons

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 1999
Glaucoma drainage devices are an option in the management of complicated glaucomas that carry a high risk of failure from conventional filtering surgery. Examples include the glaucomas associated with aphakia or pseudophakia, neovascular glaucoma, and glaucomas associated with trauma, uveitis, epithelial downgrowth, iridocorneal endothelial syndrome ...

Implantation of a second glaucoma drainage device

Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 2017
To evaluate success rates in controlling intraocular pressure (IOP) after implantation of a second glaucoma drainage device (GDD) with a Baerveldt glaucoma implant in patients with refractory glaucoma, with a secondary aim of reducing the need for postoperative glaucoma medications. This retrospective, noncomparative, interventional study included ...

Novel Micromachined Valved Glaucoma Drainage Devices

2006 International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2006
In this work two novel valve devices are proposed for treatment of glaucoma. By opening or closing, the proposed valves can be used to reduce high pressures in the eye (hypertony), or prevent low pressures in the eye (hypotony) respectively. These devices work based on the buckling of fluid channel connected to the anterior chamber of the eye.

The Long-term Outcomes of Glaucoma Drainage Device in Pediatric Glaucoma

Journal of Glaucoma, 2016
To evaluate the long-term outcomes and safety of glaucoma drainage device (GDD) in pediatric patients.Retrospective, noncomparative study including all patients below 18 years old who underwent Baerveldt or Molteno GDD implantation by a single surgeon. Mitomycin-C was used in most cases.

Simultaneous placement of 2 glaucoma drainage devices for uncontrolled glaucoma

Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2014
To report baseline characteristics and surgical outcomes of placement of simultaneous glaucoma drainage devices (GDDs) in eyes with considerably elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) despite maximal medical therapy.Retrospective case series.Twelve eyes of 12 patients underwent simultaneous placement of a Baerveldt 350 GDD and an Ahmed S3 GDD in the same ...
