Numerical Functional Analysis and Optimization, 1997
Global convergence results are proved for Newton's method and for a modified Newton method applied to nonsmooth systems of equations that satisfy some convexity conditions. Numerical experiments are presented showing that the theoretical results explain computational performance.

A Globally Convergent Stochastic Approximation
SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 1993Summary: By combining a constrained Kiefer-Wolfowitz search with an automatic learning algorithm, it is shown that asymptotically normal convergence of an estimator to a global optimum under reasonably lenient assumptions can be attained. It is enough that the objective function be smooth and locally strictly convex at its minima.

Globalization and Economic Convergence
Competition & Change, 1997Convergence among national economies is viewed by a growing number of observers as an inevitable result of increasing global integration of product and financial markets. Yet there is reason to doubt that globalization has yet brought about, or will in the future bring about, the degree of convergence assumed by some.

In this final chapter, we prove convergence results for general metric graphs and the associated graph-like manifolds. In particular, we show resolvent convergence, convergence of the discrete and essential spectrum and of resonances.

Globalization and Policy Convergence
International Studies Review, 2001An implicit assumption of most policy analysts and some academics is that globalization leads to a convergence of traditionally national policies governing environmental regulation, consumer health and safety, the regulation of labor, and the ability to tax capital.

Proving convergence of the various optimization algorithms is a delicate exercise. In general, it is helpful to consider local and global convergence patterns separately. The local convergence rate of an algorithm provides a useful benchmark for comparing it to other algorithms. On this basis, Newton’s method wins hands down. However, the tradeoffs are

Globalization and Policy Convergence
Public Management: An International Journal of Research and Theory, 1999This article examines the use of the system of mutual recognition, harmonization and qualified majority voting in the European Union (EU) and Australia as a means to the greater understanding of the impact of globalization in relation to policy convergence.

Globally Convergent Algorithms for Convex Programming
Mathematics of Operations Research, 1981We consider solving a (minimization) convex program by sequentially solving a (minimization) convex approximating subproblem and then executing a line search on an exact penalty function. Each subproblem is constructed from the current estimate of a solution of the given problem, possibly together with other information. Under mild conditions, solving
